Marcarl Posted May 4, 2013 #2 Posted May 4, 2013 Now we have to stay off the roads as well????? how much time do we have, this could be kind of touchie,,,,,,is she going to have an announcer to let us know she is coming? Actually, looks good, might fit her to a T, and after you're done with it, she should be happy.
muffinman Posted May 4, 2013 Author #5 Posted May 4, 2013 They only made the 450 for two years 1986 and its either 85 or 87 I dont remember all I know is its in the yard and I have to clean the carb Mini already has its matching 250 we purchased them both from the original owner Jeff
Freebird Posted May 4, 2013 #6 Posted May 4, 2013 They were great little bikes. I never understood why Honda stopped making them. I know she will really enjoy it.
reddevilmedic Posted May 4, 2013 #8 Posted May 4, 2013 I don't think they stopped making them, I just saw a 250 new at a dealer, then I think the next size up was a cb500.
DragonRider Posted May 4, 2013 #9 Posted May 4, 2013 Just what you needed another bike in the stable..................
stroker ace Posted May 4, 2013 #11 Posted May 4, 2013 I don't think they stopped making them, I just saw a 250 new at a dealer, then I think the next size up was a cb500. They stopped making the 450 Rebel, but still make the 250.

Guest tx2sturgis Posted May 5, 2013 #14 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Back in the early and mid-80s, the '450' size bikes were everywhere. Considered small enough to learn on, and still large enough to travel on the highway...remember, back then, the speed limit was 55, not 75 which is common now. I was going to buy a brand new Suzuki GS450E back in 1980, but got talked into a GS750E instead..hey, the price wasnt much more. Back in 1983(?) I bought a Honda (1980 something) CM450A Hondamatic (auto transmission) for a girlfriend to ride, and that bike was a blast. Put in in 'Drive', twist, and go. Of course, I weighed a lot less back then...and a 450 automatic could easily keep up with interstate traffic, poking along at 55 or 60 mph. I wish I still had that bike. Later, in the mid-90s, a different girlfriend bought a nice older used 1987 (IIRC) Kawasaki 440 LTD...one of the first street bikes with belt drive. They also made a 750 with a belt I think...all this is from memory...so if I missed a detail or model year here and there, so be it. 400 sized bikes offered a lot of fun for not much coin... Great find you have there. I bet it will shine up really nice. Edited May 5, 2013 by tx2sturgis
XV1100SE Posted May 5, 2013 #15 Posted May 5, 2013 My first bike was a Kawasaki KZ305LTD. Was a good bike to learn on. Had a Wing pull up beside me at a light one time. In a condescending tone he said "nice little bike". By the time he caught up to me at the next light his tone changed and he said "that bike is pretty quick!".
86er Posted May 5, 2013 #16 Posted May 5, 2013 Nice find Muffin! A friend's Ex has a 250 and a 450. He sold her his 2000+- 750 Shadow but she doesn't like it, so I'm going over today to go thru the carbs and get the 450 running. She's going to sell the Shadow and stay with the Rebel.
