bendtdj Posted May 3, 2013 #1 Posted May 3, 2013 Does anyone know anything about a Mazda Tribute ES SUV? A local dealer has a 2001 on the lot with 88,000 miles on it. It has a 3.0 V-6 with all wheel drive. Seems to be in good shape, but I have not driven it yet. I am considering trading in my 2002 Silverado pickup on it. My pickup only has 78,000 miles on it, but I want something that gets better fuel mileage. Thanks, Dave
Freebird Posted May 3, 2013 #3 Posted May 3, 2013 The Mazda Tribute is basically a re-badged Ford Explorer.

Thanks, Dave Dave, I bought my daughter a 2003 Tribute in 04 with the same power train as the 01 you are considering. When purchased as a one year old vehicle it had about 25k on the clock. It now has 143K miles and runs like a top; get about 23 mph and has plenty of get up and go for a V-6. It doesn't use a drop of oil, shifts great, doesn't rattle at all. Id does have a fairly stiff ride though even with new shocks and struts installed about a year ago. She loves it and turned down an 07 Corolla to keep the Tribute.
MasterGuns Posted May 3, 2013 #5 Posted May 3, 2013 The Mazda Tribute is basically a re-badged Ford Explorer. You got that backwards.
Prairiehammer Posted May 3, 2013 #6 Posted May 3, 2013 The Mazda Tribute is basically a re-badged Ford Explorer. Actually, it was a Mazda design and it was the Ford Escape that was a re-badged Tribute. Both built on the same assembly line in Missouri.
Freebird Posted May 3, 2013 #7 Posted May 3, 2013 Sorry, you are correct. It was the Mazda Navajo that was the same as the Explorer.
