Well, my 85 Venture died last fall, and so has forced me kicking and screaming into an update of my choice of motorcycles. I came home last night from Calgary AB with a 2003 RSV in a uhaul trailer.

I got it licenced, insured and started riding it a bit after lunchtime today and spent most of the day riding. Overall I like it, especially once its rolling faster than 30kmh and the comfort is great.

I am having issues figuring out the radio controller and don't like slow speed maneuvering so far, but I am sure ill get better with it. ( It has new Bridgestones on it, and I know that everyone says the "Stones handle badly at slow speeds so Ill deal with it for a while.

Its only got about 44000 kms on it and it does not have a mark on it anywhere, and I love the colour.

Tonight I gotta read the manual and get a handle on the audio functions, and then it will be off for a ride out of town tomorrow.

Well I turned off the computer and rebooted, adjusted my screen, changed the font and found another pair of glasses.

Still says the same thing. You got a 2nd gen.

Didn't expect that. But I can understand and from the pics...... ya done alright.

Nice looking scoot. :thumbsup2:

Congrats Brian!!!

I'll get used to it. :duck::ignore: I'll even keep the razzing down.

Congrats Brian ... I LOVE that color combo too!

So that's two of us that have come home from Calgary with an RSV in a U-haul trailer LOL

Get the leveling links ... will make a HUGE difference in that low speed handling -OR- ... lower the front an inch ... same effect I believe.

The radio controls, once you figure them out, are pretty easy.

Enjoy the riding my friend, keep the rubber down and the shiney side up and hope to see you this summer somewhere!

:thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

:thumbsup2: nice lookin' bike!

Just keep playing with the radio and cb when ever you get a chance...you will get a hang of it. I had a hard time too, with the radio controls, cb etc. when i first got my bike.

Congrats. I love my 2007 RSV and agree with the heavy slow speed handling. To me, slow speed requires "muscle" but I can turn tighter on the RSV right away than I could after 70,000 miles on my Honda spirit 1100.

I will be getting the leveling links soon. And next front tire will be

Me 880 130/90h-16

Instead of the

150/80 16 stock

Both should make the front end "lighter"

The radio is simpler than it first appears.

Enjoy!

Brian, I think I may have looked twice at that bike, or one very similar in Calgary and just did not want to travel that far over the mountains so early in the year. I have spent more than a few hours in a large parking lot practicing the handling on the 02, I think I am winning with the "feel" of it, tire pressure adjusting also helps some with that. I did a 500 kilometer ride last weekend down in Washington State where they have real highways to ride on and I feel real good at high speed... the thing loves 120 to 140 kmh.

Enjoy :clap2: :mo money:

Hope you enjoy it!!!:clap2:

Dan, everyone can tell you, THAT color combo as well as the year are by far the fastest of all RSV's

Great looking bike...

Nah, the '09 Raven and Seashell is faster!

Yes Brian, the 2nd Gen is a whole different world! They are top heavy at low speeds, a little less throttle responsive than a 1st gen, and to me a little too wide in the seat, but a lot more comfortable for long distance riding and require a lot less maintenance than a 20 - 30 year old bike! Besides, I can flat foot a 2nd gen unlike a 1st gen.

Absolutely love the color! No start spending bucks on creature comforts! Yes, the radio can be intimidating but once you get your presets figured out and how to tune the radio, it works great!

Nice, the manual is available online at yamaha's site. The cb will cut the radio out and you can click it off if not using it. Once you figure the radio out it's easy, bike is almost pretty as blue.

just click proceed to manual, saves me from digging on the bike to read

Congratuations on the purchase of your new bike. You made a good choice. I definitely love everything about these Ventures except that top heavy nature of them. I've laid mine over a half a dozen times and always luckily had someone nearby who helped lift it back up again. Then, I had the Hanigan Trike kit added, which made it into a real dream machine, with all the comfort and dependability as ever but with no slow speed handling problem. Actually, it's really enjoyable to run at slow speeds now. Plus a very secure feeling. Good luck to you, and drive carefully.
