It only runs until the pressure comes up or the timer expires. If the motorcycle has run recently very few clicks would be normal.

learn something new everyday, I didn't know what all that clicking was about. I was told by the dealer, to not hit the start until after that stops. Now I know why.

Thankx

I don't know of any reason not to go ahead and start it while it's still clicking. Unless you've drained the bowls or it's been stored for a very long time there should be plenty of fuel for it to fire up.

John,

As long as you hear a few clicks when you turn it on....you are ok. It's when you don't hear anything that you might be in trouble and when it goes bad, you will think you just ran out of gas because it will come to a choking stop.

After 8 Ventures since 83 with over 500k, I finally lost my first fuel pump. And this was on an 07 with 40K on it. I'm just glad I went ahead and bought an extended warrenty with it.
