kkent66 Posted May 1, 2013 #1 Posted May 1, 2013 I have a 2006 RSV - just removed front and rear wheel and had a new set of E3's istalled. I have the front wheel on without any issues. just wondering if there are any tips or tricks to getting the rear wheel back on correctly?
etcswjoe Posted May 1, 2013 #2 Posted May 1, 2013 No real tricks, however you may want to grease your driveshaft splines and the fingers on your real wheel up hub. Just put everything back the same way you took it off.
SilvrT Posted May 1, 2013 #3 Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) I have a 2006 RSV - just removed front and rear wheel and had a new set of E3's istalled. I have the front wheel on without any issues. just wondering if there are any tips or tricks to getting the rear wheel back on correctly? Yes, there is a "trick" or 2 ... Remove the dampener (there's a snap ring that holds it in) and clean the 5 pins ... use some emery cloth to buff them up and wrap some of it around a metal coat hanger that you've bent a "hook" on the end and clean out the holes they go into. See this thread --> http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 Then Lube the pins with Honda Moly 60 grease and reinstall. Then clean those splines on the wheel and the pumpkin and lube them with the same grease. Before inserting the axle, loosen the 4 acorn nuts that hold the pumpkin onto the driveshaft shaft. Don't need to loosen them much... just enough to give some slack. This will make the axle go in easier and align it better. Install the rest of the components and tighten the axle .... then tighten those acorn nuts. Use a torque wrench on the axle nut. Here's some more info and pics -->> http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515 Edited May 1, 2013 by SilvrT
