Well, I would not remove the filter for sure. I would loosen the drainplug (bolt) to let all the oil out and drain it into a clean container and then just pour the right amount in. That way you can use the same oil again.

I´ve tried once removing the drain bolt to tap a little off the engine and got a 3/4 gallon on my garage floor :whistling:. The oil was hot and I could not get the bolt in again :shock3: and my drain pan got pushed to the side. From that incident I fill it with + 1/2 a gallon and then run the bike untill the oil is hot. Then I just add a little at a time untill I am satisfied with the reading on the glass.

There might be other ways to do this that I am not familiar with and I am sure somebody else will chime in. Many of us have overfilled but I think one only does that once :)

Good luck :) and keep the rags at hand :)

How much to much did you get in? Any chance of slipping a piece of tubing in the fill hole and pulling it out with a syringe or something?

If thats all like Dan said dont fret. It will probably blow out what it dont like and make a mess in the breather boxs.

Well lubricated breather boxes won't rust. :backinmyday:

I've always put 4 quarts in with a filter change. Never had a problem and it's always down to the half way mark when it'd time to change again. :D

Took some oil out yesterday via drain plug (no problem). It is now half way in the site glass.

All is good . Thanks to all who replied to my Threads:bighug:
