My antennae broke.

I have CB plus the stock Mark II am/fm/cassette

Between the 2 pics you can see what kind I have.

It broke where the top piece fits into the lower piece...just above the "coil"??

(bulged part in technical terms)

It looks like it should just be a very small allen key but I can't find one to fit.

What I'm worried about. If I do manage to find a new antennae or if I buy one, do I have to do some "magic" to match (or rematch) it to the CB.

Will it damage the CB if I use it as is?

If I buy a new antennae, how much should I expect to pay?

And yes...they are 2 very similar dogs...one in each saddle bag

yes, you need to have the top piece the correct length, you need a meter and set the swr correctly, can do the marshall mod. Yes using it with a jacked up antenna will end up killing the finals.

Yes you can buy just the stinger piece. Not sure where up in Canada but Radio Shack in the US use to have them. Maybe a truck stop also.

If you cut the stinger to the original length it should be close but it should have a meter put on it and matched to the Radio.

Good Luck,

Pick up a whole new antenna, with a bottom load coil, should be less than $20.

You will need to match it or like was said, you'll burn out the output transformers, you can receive fine, that's no problem, just don't try to transmit.

The top section broke right where it exits the bottom section. If I can get that allen screw out then the top section will only be about 1/2" shorter than it was before.

Would that be enough of a difference to "unmatch" it?

If you can find one off eBay, or??? I wouldn't worry about matching the antenna to your radio. I suspect that the OEM's are not matched, but come generically close. Unless you want to shoot skip and run a bi-linier, or just talk to the group on a ride and listen to the trucker chatter, it'll work just fine. Granted you'll fry the finals if you key up without an antenna load, so don't try keying the radio while your searching.
