chag67 Posted April 29, 2013 #1 Posted April 29, 2013 I am wanting to be more hands on with my bike. I was told that changing the oil and oil filter is pretty easy. Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to change the oil? I have a 2007 RSV. Pictures would be the best.
KeithR Posted April 29, 2013 #2 Posted April 29, 2013 Have a look at this thread....should answer your question. Keith http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52356
chag67 Posted April 29, 2013 Author #3 Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks. I did a search and nothing came up. That's why I posted a new thread. Thanks for the link.
Mike G in SC Posted April 29, 2013 #4 Posted April 29, 2013 Chris, This is really the easiest bike or car I have ever changed oil on. One bolt, 17mm, already in perfect drain position. And easy to get to oil filter. Might use a big channel locks to loosen it. Remember to put a drain pan under it,,,lol. That is really about it. 15-20 minutes without beer. Mike G
playboy Posted April 29, 2013 #5 Posted April 29, 2013 Just don't over fill it I think manual states 3.5 qts w/filter I would add 3qts fire it up and run for a bit and check it. To much and it comes out the little rubber hose hanging by the swingarm. You don't want anyone thinking it's a HD.
Guest Posted April 29, 2013 #6 Posted April 29, 2013 Manual calls for 3.9 qts. 3.5 is perfect as it puts the oil at the 1/2 way mark on the window. Since your not familiar with oil changes just make sure you use a motorcycle specific oil and not one with friction modifiers added such as regular automobile oils.
