Miles,

At some point, I need to ride somewhere to meet up with you. However, Wisconsin is just too close. I will follow this thread and join in when I can. East of the Rockies, north of the Gulf can be reached in a day.

Okay, for those interested in participating in the "My Dinner with Miles" program, or...in the case of Rick (SilvrT) that just wants a free meal...anyway he can get it...here is the itinerary for my first two rides.

Ride # 1...ride down to Nor Cal to have my bike seat done by Rick Mayer.

*Arrive in Redding, CA. on the evening of May 8th, and available to have Dinner anytime after 6:00 pm.

Ride # 2...ride to B2Dad/B2Mom barbeque on Dresden, TN.

*Arrive in Rock Springs, WY. on May 15th, available for Dinner after 8:00 pm

*Arrive in Columbia, MO. on May 16th, available for Dinner after 8:00 pm.

Arrive in Martin, TN. on May 17th, dinner with the gang of frog leggers

Arrive in Dresden, TN. on May 18th...eat a bunch of Crappies

*Arrive in Ogallala, NE. on May 19th, available for Dinner after 8:00 pm

*Arrive in Ontario, OR. on May 20th, available for Dinner after 8:00 pm.

If the arrival has an asterick * in front of it, I am available to have Dinner that evening.

I will know my specific motel/hotel within a week, as I make reservations, so let me know if any of these locations work for you. If no one shows up, then I am stuck with day-old pizza, in a squished box.:rotf:

Okay, here is the deal:

Next, I am leaving home on Wednesday, May 15th, early morning, and riding to Dresden, TN for the B2BDad/Mom barbeque. So...if anyone lives between Seattle and Tennessee, and wants to have Dinner with Miles on Wednesday night, let me know, and I will let you know where I think I will be that night. Probably about 1000 miles East of Seattle.

Do you get it ? Dinner with Miles is on me. I am buying. And I do not have all night to visit, but can take about 90 minutes to 2 hours out of my rest/sleep schedule to visit with VR members.

Questions?

Just one, If you've already ridden 1000 miles, why not ride another 228.79? I'll buy if you do. I'd really like to make that little trip but I just started a full-time tech job with the tanning salon business I work for and "silly season" is in full swing, plus I'm on call that weekend. But I'll ALWAYS make time for a meet-n-eat.

Let's see, this would be my second day on the road for this trip...having ridden 1000 miles the first day, and a 1000 miles the second day...and you are asking me WHY I don't want to ride an additional 228.79 miles to get a free meal from you ? Really ?

First, I thank you for the offer of a free meal, but the deal was that I am buying the meal.

Second...when was the last time that you rode back to back 1000 mile days ? Eh ?:whistling:

Third, if I ride that extra 228.79 miles and land in Kentucky, then my mileage on Friday will be cut too short, and I will have far too much time by the poolside in Martin, TN, waiting for the Frog Legs to be cooked:rotf:

Condor, I will be in your area on June 28th and 29th. Going to Auburn, for the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Club Swap Meet and Bike Show. I go every year, and my best buddy/riding mate always enters a bike or two and always wins his show class.

BTW...if ANYONE in far Northern California wants to have dinner 2 nights from now...Wednesday night, May 8th, anywhere in the Redding, Anderson, Red Bluff area, I wil be there, and available.

Come on, this is a free meal, and a delightful dog n' pony show.:rotf:

No, SilvrT, do not go there with a joke.:no-no-no:

I am staying at the County Fairgrounds in Auburn, on Friday and Saurday nights. The place is a hoot, with Flat Track racing on Friday night, and we all have a great time.

You are VERY welcome to come visit with me and my two friends that will be there, in the shade on Friday afternoon and evening, and then we walk a couple hundred feet over to the race track, and enjoy good old-fashioned dirt track racing. It is bikes racing, not cars.

Saturday is the bike show and swap meet, so we hang out there all day, look at old the OLD parts from the '60s Japanese bikes, and have a good time.

Auburn is not far from you, and you could make this an annual thing. The Fairgrounds in Auburn are easy to find, and I can meet you at the front gate.

I'll see what I can do for Friday night Miles. I still have teenagers I need to keep an eye on. Flat track is great. Years ago the family used to go watch them at the Tulare County Fair Grounds when in Visalia. Also went to the 'Sacramento Mile' a couple of times when we moved to Carmichael. It is a hoot. We have a couple of swap meets locally, went a couple of times but got tired of looking at old Harley parts. Tons of the stuff. Got bored and stopped going.. Is the phone number listed in your profile the house or cell??

Condor, the number listed is for my cell, and I usually have it with me. I have raced a few times...a LONG time ago, at the Scramento Mile, and the San Jose Mile, and Castle Rock, etc. The swap meet in Auburn...part of the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Club bike show, has 93.14159 % of the parts are old Japanese bike parts.

Bring the teens, if you want, as there are lots of things happening at the flat track races, and the kids will have a blast. Or...leave them home, so that you can have a blast.:rotf:

I was fortunate to have dinner with Miles in Dresden TN. He is a great dinner companion and never once slurped his soup :). He is great to talk with.
