frodotoo Posted April 25, 2013 #1 Posted April 25, 2013 I installed Baron Risers on my bike today in anticipation of riding this weekend (finally). I've read thru the other threads regarding the subject and find no easy solution to my new problem: Throttle sticking on far right turn of the handle bars. Doubtful this will affect normal riding, but low speed parking lot turns could be problematic. Anyone find an easy fix other than taking off the fairing?? I slid my brake about a half inch down and that bundle of cables is fine but I don't see any way I can do the same with the throttle. Removing the fairing has got to be a big PITA. Any other suggestions or advice?
Kirby Posted April 25, 2013 #2 Posted April 25, 2013 Try rotating the handle bars up or down and then rotate the controls on the bars to get the needed slack. You may have to reroute the cables differently through the steering head area. This is what I did several years ago and have never had a problem with binding.
ragtop69gs Posted April 25, 2013 #3 Posted April 25, 2013 I re-routed the cables to go under the top tree, took a few tries to get the right routing but now I doesn't stick at all at full turn.
steamer Posted April 25, 2013 #4 Posted April 25, 2013 I re-routed the cables to go under the top tree, took a few tries to get the right routing but now I doesn't stick at all at full turn. I did the same thing.
M61A1MECH Posted April 25, 2013 #5 Posted April 25, 2013 I had the same issue, just took a bit of extra fussing around with the cables toget the slack needed.
frodotoo Posted April 25, 2013 Author #7 Posted April 25, 2013 I re-routed the cables to go under the top tree, took a few tries to get the right routing but now I doesn't stick at all at full turn. So does that mean disconnecting them at the throttle housing or just trying to slip them around to another position?? Thanks for the replies!
dacheedah Posted April 25, 2013 #8 Posted April 25, 2013 rerouting or longer cables, unhook at the handle and reroute, remember one is pullback and you are just looking for a little releif. Longer cables are not that expensive and you will be much happier.
frodotoo Posted April 26, 2013 Author #9 Posted April 26, 2013 So where do I find a longer set of cables, I've been googling and find plenty of stock length cables, but nothing a little bit longer?
dacheedah Posted April 26, 2013 #10 Posted April 26, 2013 You want 2" over stock. You can contact buckeye http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ and tell them what you want. On fleabay I ordered from motion pro and told them what I wanted, they sent it right out.
ragtop69gs Posted April 26, 2013 #11 Posted April 26, 2013 So where do I find a longer set of cables, I've been googling and find plenty of stock length cables, but nothing a little bit longer? Skydoc also sells longer cables and brake lines.
dacheedah Posted April 26, 2013 #12 Posted April 26, 2013 Didn't mean to leave Skydoc out and he is actually a member vendor that is just a magician. I have seen him in action at Maintenance Day and he is truly gifted as well as being a great guy.http://venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=4738

wideopenrod Posted April 26, 2013 #14 Posted April 26, 2013 I re-routed the cables to go under the top tree, took a few tries to get the right routing but now I doesn't stick at all at full turn. When you say under, what do you mean? Pictures? Thanks, Rod
wideopenrod Posted April 26, 2013 #15 Posted April 26, 2013 Anyone have pictures of how you routed the stock cables with the extended risers?
ragtop69gs Posted April 26, 2013 #16 Posted April 26, 2013 Here's a few I just took, if ya want pics inside the fairing you'll have to wait till I open it to install my Buddy Rich Cable.
wideopenrod Posted April 26, 2013 #17 Posted April 26, 2013 Awesome, that's what we needed. Thanks so much, Rod
wes0778 Posted April 26, 2013 #18 Posted April 26, 2013 Guess I was lucky, I just put the 1-1/2" risers in and have never had any issues.
Scottallen Posted October 26, 2013 #19 Posted October 26, 2013 Skydoc also sells longer cables and brake lines. how would I find this gentleman
bongobobny Posted October 26, 2013 #20 Posted October 26, 2013 Just click this link... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=4738
chag67 Posted October 27, 2013 #21 Posted October 27, 2013 After installing my risers, my throttle stuck on the hard right turn for a couple weeks but now has seemed to have worked itself out. I don't have any stick in the throttle. I still plan on getting longer bars anyway. But the risers work for now.
