My '83 project is comomn along (slowly) but I need some assistance. Where can I locate the following for my "83 Venture Royale?:

progressive springs for front down tubes?

seals for same?

air breather?

stator cooling kit?

I plan to order ignitech TDI right away and maybe looking for ignitor and upgrade regulator/rectifier.

As always, many thanks.

I have a set of Progressive Springs that has less than 1 year of use. It came out of my wrecked 91 VR MKII. You would need to find out if it fits your MKI. I think it does but I'm not sure.

Also I do not know what is meant by Front Down Tubes.

These are the "legs" on the front of the bike that hold the axle and top off at the triple tree. The term maybe "old school." Anyone know if these will fit my bike? If so, I would like to get them.

Thanks.

Don't forget the carb diaphragm kit from Sirius. Another must do.

Do a fuse box upgrade to blade type fuses early on and save yourself some trouble shooting.

On fork seals, go with factory seals. There have been issues with some aftermarket ones. The name Pyramid (?) comes to mind. Too thick.

The breather, filter only can run from Emgo (on eBay) to K&M's. Depends on what you want to spend.

The poplular R/R upgrade is the Shindengen Mosfet. Several threads around on that subject. Throw a new higher output stator in front that and you're good to go.

Swap to a 4 brush starter. THE cure for hot start problem..

We got the suggestions..............

We got the answers..................

And if you ask for advice....................... Ya gone and done did it now. :rotf:

Seriously though.......... we do try to help.

Wow! One brand allegedly didn't work so all aftermarket seals are bad.

I've been using K&L seals for five years and never had a problem with one, including on 1st gen Ventures. A pair can be had for under $20, less than half the price of a Yamaha branded seal.

I've also installed All Balls seals where a customer provided them. I have started refusing to install them though because they always seem very difficult to drive home. Not aware of one ever leaking though. I did have a set of All Balls dust seals on an inverted fork that kept climbing out, ended up going with factory dust seals on that one.

I'm not aware of any place to get dust seals for your bike other than from Yamaha. Unless yours are in great shape they should be replaced too.

Of course any seal will be short lived if it's installed improperly or the tube is damaged.

when you look into the R&R upgrade, let me know I have an extra one I am willing to let go for the old cheap price we were getting them for 2 years ago.

No matter how many times I read what I posted I can't see where I condemed ALL aftermarket seals as bad. I mentioned ONE brand with a known problem with fit.

There have been posts in the past with fit issues and install problems on fork seals so my statement was simple. Buyer be informed.

I always prefer and recommend factory seals for high wear usage just as many other do. Always have.
