orlean1 Posted April 21, 2013 #1 Posted April 21, 2013 Hi All I have a suspension pump for my RSV. I think im using it wrong. I put the air into the shock however when I go to unscrew the pump im to slow and all the air rushes out. What is the trick to unscrewing the pump without losing all the air. I pump the rear shock up to 47 and by the time i got the chuck undone it measured out to 42.5 lbs. Im only pumping the fronts up to 7lbs to scared of blowing the bladders but by the time i get it undone im down to 0lbs. Any advice. Thanks in advance Vince
Freebird Posted April 21, 2013 #2 Posted April 21, 2013 What kind of suspension pump do you have? Most of us use the "Progressive" brand pump and it has a zero loss chuck. If that is what you have, you should not be losing much, if any, air when you remove it.
orlean1 Posted April 21, 2013 Author #3 Posted April 21, 2013 Hi Freebird. It was a harley pump not progressive that i got from my neighbor. I don't think it was a zero chuck.
Freebird Posted April 21, 2013 #4 Posted April 21, 2013 Well, most of the Harley pumps that I have seen are actually made by progressive but I don't know exactly what you have. Perhaps it is just worn out.
orlean1 Posted April 21, 2013 Author #5 Posted April 21, 2013 ok. Ill see if my neighbor knows tomorrow then probably get a progressive. Looking forward to your maintence day in June.
RedRider Posted April 22, 2013 #6 Posted April 22, 2013 Post a picture. We can let you know if it is a Progressive or not. RR
darthandy Posted April 23, 2013 #7 Posted April 23, 2013 I bought a Harley pump last year and it works quite well. There may be a problem with the pump. Andy
octoberboy Posted April 25, 2013 #9 Posted April 25, 2013 This is the one I got at local Harley dealer.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted May 14, 2013 #10 Posted May 14, 2013 This is the one I got at local Harley dealer. that is the one I bought last weekend.... works great but now I gotta learn to ride again, PO had just used a bicycle pump and pressures were all screwy.
orlean1 Posted May 14, 2013 Author #11 Posted May 14, 2013 The pump i have is the right one. I found out operator error was happening. I hate that when it happens:rotf:
playboy Posted May 14, 2013 #12 Posted May 14, 2013 The pump i have is the right one. I found out operator error was happening. I hate that when it happens:rotf: So tell us how you could possibly screw that up :stickpoke: Inquiring minds want to know.
orlean1 Posted May 15, 2013 Author #13 Posted May 15, 2013 it was more in the technique of unscrewing it. You gotta give us ole spring suspension guys a break.
