As many of you know I have been making auxillary brake / tail and turn signal harnesses for Royal Stars, Road Stars and Ventures for about a year now. Here is a link to one of my current products as reference for those that are not familar with my products.

http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4201&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-tour-deluxe&cat=35

I have been asked from time to time if I could make one for a GEN I Venture or Venture Royale., and sadley had to say no. All the time I have been looking for the connectors for all of that year and I am happy to say that I have just today found someone that can supply them to me. I do not have any pricing yet, but I do know that the minimum order will be a quanity of 100.

Thanks to Dingy I know that some GEN Is use a 6 pin connector and others use a 13 pin connectors. I need to gauge the interest in these products before I commit a few hundred dollars to purchase raw materials.

If you are interested in one of these harnesses for your GEN Iplease reply to this thread so I can gauge the interest.

The 6 pin connectors fit GEN I's with no on board air compressors.

The 13 pin connectors fit GEN I's with the on board air compressors.

As soon as I can get pricing I will work up pricing for each of the assembles and post the price for each of them.

Thanks

Steve,

I'm a bit confused about 6 pin vs 13 pin, this is just for the brake lights correct, or am I missing something here? It should just be a 6 pin for the tail and turn signals, I'm not sure what the compressors would have to do with it :confused24:

Squidley,

From the diagrams I got from from Gary the brake/tail and turns go thru the 13 pin connector on the models with the on board compressor along with a lot of other circuits. I am certianly no GEN I expert, if someone knows better than I am all ears. I want to get this right if it works out.

Thanks for any help, photos are good also.

The best place for Steve to put the adapter is at the 13 pin connector, actually a 14 pin with a keying slot.

If it is done after this point the complexity increases, along with the higher risk of an improper connection being made. It would take 6 connectors to do it farther downstream, as opposed to 2 connectors at this point.

Also doing it downstream farther would require more dis-assembly of the bike to get at the other connectors, as they are under the trunk. The 13 pin can be accessed by removing the seat.

The non CLASS equipped bikes are same location for connector, but only have 5 wires for the tail, brake & turn signals.

Pictures of each versions wiring diagram attached.
