Freebird Posted April 14, 2013 #1 Posted April 14, 2013 I figured I had better get busy huh? HATE doing them and HATE sending the money that I always owe but I think I've put it off almost as long as I can this year. Just spent about 3 hours working on mine and am just about done....but oh....it hurts.
uncledj Posted April 14, 2013 #2 Posted April 14, 2013 I love tax time. The government "gives" me a bunch of money every year at tax time.
SilvrT Posted April 14, 2013 #3 Posted April 14, 2013 Did ours back in Feb already. I got a whack of money back due to a pile of money I had to pay out for spousal support to the ex. Thankfully that is over and done with now, so sayeth da Judge!

Dano Posted April 14, 2013 #5 Posted April 14, 2013 Got mine done last month due to the FAFSA due for the kid in college, my return will turn to crap when he turns 26!! Thank goodness he's only 20......
Long Tall Posted April 14, 2013 #6 Posted April 14, 2013 I love tax time. The government "gives" me a bunch of money every year at tax time. Government does not give anything that belongs to them. They gave "BACK" your money that that had TAKEN to much of. My partner's a Tax attorney and this is what he tells me every year. Long Tall
SilvrT Posted April 14, 2013 #7 Posted April 14, 2013 Define "whack" of money and how can I get my own??? This "whack" of money was about 1/3 of the size of the "pile" I shelled out to her! So therefore, a whack is 1/3 of a pile
chabicheka Posted April 14, 2013 #9 Posted April 14, 2013 Did ours back in Feb already. I got a whack of money back due to a pile of money I had to pay out for spousal support to the ex. Thankfully that is over and done with now, so sayeth da Judge! Hey, i will take some money off you, if that helps you at tax time....
BradT Posted April 14, 2013 #10 Posted April 14, 2013 They gave "BACK" your money that that had TAKEN to much of. Some give it willing so that they dont have to pay but long and short it was your money to begin with. Brad
Hummingbird Posted April 14, 2013 #11 Posted April 14, 2013 We always get some of our own money back. Linda spends hours upon hours gathering info and receipts and gives it all to our cpa. This is the first year he filed electronically and I still don't understand how but the refund was in MY checking account within 2 weeks. The only mistake she did this year was letting the refund go to MY account instead of hers.
Cougar Posted April 14, 2013 #12 Posted April 14, 2013 Got mine done last month due to the FAFSA due for the kid in college, my return will turn to crap when he turns 26!! Thank goodness he's only 20...... That will END next year.. So I believe like us it will turn to carp NEXT year. What our tax man told us. I hope he is wrong

Carbon_One Posted April 14, 2013 #14 Posted April 14, 2013 The simple solution is to quit earning so much money - problem solved. Dick has a point there to some extent. Being retired now my taxes aren't as high as they used to be so I pay in less but generally get back less as well. I try to have just enough deducted so I don't have to pay yet keeping the refund low. For a few years I didn't even have to pay State taxes or even have them deducted from my income. That changed last year but lucky me I still got all I paid in back due to being under the basic income deduction line. Next year who knows. Oh yea filed my taxes last week. State cleared and now waiting for the Feds. Taxes the only thing besides death you can be assured of. Larry

Just spent about 3 hours working on mine and am just about done....but oh....it hurts. I feel this pain every April, This year I watched a brand new Z06 go to the feds and a new HD and truck go to the state. What do I get for my money again I keep forgetting ? Oh I know a bunch od dummies that can't get anything done.

Good thing, I got enough fed back this year to half pay for our trip to Europe
