Well almost anyway, after a lot of research and searching I finally ordered my replacement 9mm pistol to replace the one that I lost to the Cherokee County sheriffs office in 2004. I had a hard time finding one locally new or used, so after many hours of searching and checking a ton of websites I found one. Its a Hi Point 9mm Compact. Ordered it from Impact Guns, the price was right and its already on its way to a local shop here. Once it is here all I have to do is go and fill out the background check and wait. I got the last one they had available. I wanted to order the one that came with a carrying case and knife but they were out of those so I ordered the gun. Cant wait to get it to the firing range to try it out, I read a lot of reviews on it some not so flattering, but many more that were very high on it and some that thought it was a decent gun for the price. Next thing to do is go and apply for my concealed carry permit. I have put it off long enough. I still have a couple of small concealable guns but they are both in 380 and that round is more expensive than the 9mm. Once I put a few rounds through it I will let you know how satisfied I am with it.

I have that gun. It shoots great with no problems. It's not pretty so it fits me just fine. Some say they don't feed ammo right. If that's a problem, it's usually the feed ramp needs polished or the lips on the magazine need tweeked. Lots of videos out there to help with that. I am going to pay attention to this thread as well. I've read/watched alot of stuff about the high point as well.

As far as reading the good/bad info online. I just bought a CZ P-07 Duty in 9mm about a week ago. Kind of a spur of the moment thing....Anyway did some research on it after I got it. Come to find out that the Early P-07's had problems....not flattering at all. But CZ has stepped up and fixed their problems and the gun really shoots nice. After about 80 rounds or so in the last week, I put 4 rounds out of 10 in a 8 inch diameter target at 50 yards. With the recent snowfall we have had, I could tell where my misses hit behind the target. If the target would have been 12 to 14 inches in diameter, I think I wouldve been about 8 out of 10. So if I wouldve read the early history of the P-07, I probobly wouldnt have bought it. Lucky for me I didnt read it.....Great gun, and fits me well. Say no more.

Cant wait to hear your personal experience with the Hi-Point!

I pulled the trigger too.

I pulled it on my mini 14....one of the "problem" groundhogs around my place made the mistake of showing himself in the woods today.

That aside, I'm not a big fan of Hi point handguns. They're heavy and clunky, but to give them their due, they are a great value, and I believe they offer a lifetime warranty on their guns. That said, a buddy of mine has a .45 and it's never given him any trouble at all. If yours gives you trouble, they'll take care of it.

I also don't see the justification in ultra expensive handguns. I have a Taurus 40 and a Sigma .380 for ccw use.

I have a hi point 9mm carbine and I love it. (also a great short range groundhog gun)

Shoot your Hi point, then try out a more expensive handgun, and if the differences aren't that noticeable or aren't that important, then you've made the right choice.

I have had a few high end guns and they didnt impress me. I had a Model 19 S&W with a 4 1/2 inch barrel, it was a good gun and fairly accurate for what it was, so I traded up to a Colt Commander in 38 Super, very nice gun, it jammed a couple of times right after I bought it but it was big and heavy, not very good for cc. The gun I lost to the Cherokee County Sheriffs office was a Jennings arms 9MM in stainless, 14 round clip, a fairly good gun, never had any problems with it, it was slightly smaller than the colt and I really liked it. It shot well and never jammed on me, wish I still had that one, it wasnt expensive about $70.00 more than what I paid for the Hi Point. I am looking forward to receiving it and shooting it. I have a couple of 380's I bought for the wife and I but I would rather have something with more punch if I need it, hopefully I wont.

I have the HiPoint C9 for 2 years now.probably fired 1000 rounds with it without a hitch. If you give it a good cleaning it should do you justice.mine came with the carrying case and a Kershaw knife.I agree itnis a little heavy but it fits my hand just fine. And I do like the lifetime warranty. If someone has a HiPoint and thinks it is a piece of crap i will buy it from them for crap price.

We used to go to Lock Stock and Barrel to shoot (in Grantville), decent range fees. Autrey's Armory in Fayetteville was maybe a bit classier but more expensive. I did notice that Newnan now has it's own range though.

I've never owned a High Point, but from what I hear they are pretty reliable. They are just ugly & heavy, which really doesn't matter when it comes down to it.

I am very happy with my Glock 19. It is extremely reliable, light & easy to carry. One can never have too many guns.:D

Ive had several of the high point firearms. Had a few 9mm, a few 40's and one 9mm carbine. Only problem I had was difficulty in breakdown and cleaning and reasembly of the carbine. All were a bit heavy and the 9mm in particular tended to give me a failure to feed and one didn't like to eject correctly. With both I was able to corect the issues by changing the name brand and or type of ammo being sent down the pipe. Cant for the life of me rember what I switched to but it didn't take many to find what the weapon liked. As I remember none of the like hollow points of any kind but that was years ago. As of now my ccw's are a Ruger 9mm , a Ruger sp101 357 and a Ivers Johnon Thrahser ss in 45 auto.

If the weapon feels wright to you and you can shoot it reliably and accurately without discomfort then who cares what the naysayers think. High point fire arms while on the low end of the fire arms dealors are a very good company with a great customer service.

It arrived a couple of weeks ago, haven't had time to go out and fire it yet with my knee surgery and all, but my first impression is, I like this gun, it is big and a little heavy, but that will help hold the recoil down. That is one thing I did not like about my 38 Super, it recoiled liked you wouldn't believe. I got a a holster made out of ballistic material, that can go on my belt by clip or through slots in the back. It can go inside or outside, but I think its a little big to go inside. I will be buying the extended clip for it, it came with an 8 but they make one that will hold 10 so I will pick up a couple of those. Today I plan on going to the range and firing it and my 380's, they haven't been fired in quite a while. I have some jhp left over from my other 9 so I will try them first and see how they feed, I would like to be able to use them full time in it, but if they don't feed properly I will use fmj, that's what I bought with the gun. Stay tuned for a followup review after my visit to the range.

Been waiting on a Hi Point 45 pistol to arrive, so while I was out to day I gave the local gunshop a call and asked if they had received any, no, but he had a used one that had been bought by a customer for his wife, she didnt like it, so he traded it on something else, of course he didn't give him full credit on it since it had been fired, so I got it cheaper that what I got my 9mm for by about $40.00, and he threw in a gun case for it since he didnt have the box. Timing is everything, now to make a trip to Wallworld and see if they have some ammo, I found they have the cheapest prices around if they have any in stock. I will let you know my feelings on this one as soon as I break it in. One thing, its big and heavy and damn thats a big opening in that barrel, glad I am on the opposite end of it, would not want to be on the receiving end of it.

Did I miss how you lost weapon to begin with? Sorry, things like this peek my attention if it's abuse of authority. If it's of personal nature, then just tell me to mind my own business.

I would say it was abuse, I was stopped for no reason what so ever in Cherokee County, NC about 12 years ago, not by 1 but 3 Sheriff's Deputy's. I wasnt speeding or driving recklessly but I believe they profiled me, I had passed through there 3 nites in a row around the same time and I believe they thought I was trafficing in drugs, or maybe had something to do with the bomber they caught 2 weeks later in Murphy. Anyway they gave me some cock and bull stories about license plate, registration, and finally made me get out of my van, I was a courier at that time making deliveries, as I got out I saw that my 9mm was in the door pocket, It had been there so long I had forgot about it. As I started walking back to the police car I told them there was a handgun in the vehicle, immediately I was slammed on the hood of the car and patted down. They wanted to know why I had a gun, you know the drill. They searched my van inside out with a drug dog, inspected the tires, gas tank, under the hood, behind the paneling looking for something that wasnt there. So they get me on carrying a concealed weapon. Went to court, spoke to the ADA and they droped the charges if I gave up my gun. There it is.

I bought a new gun last week also. I bought a .40 caliber Glock a while back and I like it but I wanted a .22 for plinking. I had one many years ago that I really liked but it was long gone. So...I decided to replace it with another almost just like it. So my new one is a Ruger Single Six. They come with two cylinders, .22 and .22 Mag. Stainless Steel with beautiful rosewood grips. I really like the 5 1/2" barrel so had to look around a bit to find it. Fantastic guns.

Don that was the very first gun I ever bought right after I got married. It was a sweet little gun and I loved going out and shooting it. The ammo was dirt cheap, even in 22 mag. Thats all I ever shot out of it. Wish I still had it. I traded it for a Colt 38 Super along with a little cash of course.

I have more than one High Point. I have the .380, the C9, the .45, and the 9mm carbine rifle. I love them all. Have never had any issues with any of them and we run the crap out of them. I have had the .380 for close to 10 years now and probably 5000 rounds plus through it. Have never pulled it apart to clean it. Just whatever I can get while it is together. The only jams, FTF, etc that I have ever had was with TulAmmo. Anything else has fed perfectly. Haven't used the others as much, but have never had a single problem with any of them. And if I did, I would just mail it back and let High Point either fix or replace it. I also own supposedly higher quality guns, but the High Points are so cheap and backed so well by their customer service that I figure why not just buy them all. I can drop them, kick them, throw them in the mud or whatever and they still fire and once again if they didn't, they are covered by High Point. And roughly $700 for 3 pistols and a rifle with lifetime no questions asked warranties is pretty damn good in my book.

My 2 newest guns to my arsenal, the top left is the Hi Point 45 JHP. The middle one is the Hi Point 9mm Compact, and the last one is Jenning's Arms .380, which is what I carry, was going to carry the 9mm, but its a tad big. The little 380 I have had for almost 20 years. Not a bad little weapon and very concealable. Shoots pretty decent too, havent shot the 45 yet, will do that in the next couple of weeks, it is the one caliber I always wanted to own.

Sig P-290 (9mm Double Action) ...

I'm a big Sig Fan and my P220 (45) has been my winter carry gun for almost

20 years. It's a little big for summer carry. The P-290 fits snugly in its

pocket holster and rides comfortably in my right front pocket. The velcro

sleeve that fits over the holster stops it from printing at all. I bought it with the

factory laser sights included.

It also comes with a 2nd extended magazine.

Stay safe out there !

Here's a Seecamp 32 that I've carried in my back-pocket for over 20 years. The

wallet (Kramer) absolutely doesn't print and is smaller than many traditional regular

money wallets.

Loaded with Mag-Safe it hits pretty hard. Seecamp makes the same frame in a 380.

Stay safe !
