Mark II windshields

I am going to need to replace the OEM windshield on a '86 Mark II that I am considering buying. Can anyone tell me of a good aftermarket windshield for the '86 - '93 Ventures ???

 

I do look OVER my windshields, not through them, so I don't want stock height, and I lean toward a sporty windshield, not a larger one. I do not carry a passenger, so I don't care if the windshield protects a passenger, as the aux. fuel cell I will mount back there does not mind getting wind in the face.

 

And, yes, I am very familiar with Clearview Windshields. I am a long time customer, have seen what they offer for the Mark II, and...they have a direct link from their website to the VentureRiders.Org website (yeah)

 

Any suggestions?????

I have a SlipStreamer on mine right now.

 

It does the job, I just have to be very gentle cleaning it.

It is no where near as scratch resistant as the OEM screen (there are non of those to be found new).

 

I think that the only screen that can compare to OEM for durability, is the F4 and they do not make one for the 1st gens. But if enough people call and ask for it, they may see a demand and make one. I have offered to send them my old OEM shield from my bike to use as a sample to copy. As soon as they make one I will be right there to get one. I'm hard on all windshields.

im using a slipstreamer also, i like it! i hit a turkey at 50 didnt break it! it does require polish to keep it pristine though. it does seem thicker than oem

I have tried a slipstream on my 83. It was a little taller than my oem. I liked it when it was cold. In the hot summer I would have rather had the shorter oem. I do not like all of the buffeting around my head with the oem, so I am still searching for a shield with vents, without the buffeting.

I do like Clearview windshields. Have had a lot of them on many different bikes.

I was fortunate to find a NOS (in OEM carton) on eBay some months back and for less than a ubiquitous Slipstreamer. I know that doesn't help you, but the point is keep an eye out on eBay.

Currently, there is a OEM windshield on eBay though used, it looks pretty good.

Kevin, thanks for the info. The one on e-bay is not as nice as I would like, and I really do like a brand new one. I am very good at maintaining the clerity of my windshields, so I would like to start with a new one.

 

The Cee Baileys are cheap...in price...compared to a Clearview. But price is not a concern for me. I want the best I can buy.

 

I was not able to find the correct Slipstreamer windshield to fit a Mark II. Must not have looked in the right place.

 

Anyhow, I will probably go with the Clearview. Costs more, but a great windshield.

I would say keep watching ebay I got mine as a return they sold for around $60 they said it had a slight scratch haven't found it yet

I think that TriStar was company founded by Rick Butler and a man named Dave Henderson. If that is the one, then no, they shut it down several years ago.

Did anyone pick up their windshield mold. I purchased my second one about ten years ago and I thought someone else was making them. It really is a great windshield. It is still as clear as the day I bought it.

I have a slightly shorter CeeBailey that I like pretty well. I don't know how it stands up to frequent wiping since I look over it and don't feel the need to shine it constantly. One other thing, when I changed to a shorter shield I feel a tailwind on me that I've gotten used to. I guess the air drops into the backseat area and swirls forward to push on my back slightly.
