Yammer Dan Posted April 5, 2013 #1 Posted April 5, 2013 OK I finally got me a lift from Harbor Freight. What do I need to use it on a 1st Gen. Going to be hard to get out of the habit of jacks & boards.

Flyinfool Posted April 5, 2013 #3 Posted April 5, 2013 You need to deliver it to my house and I will show you how to use it...... The 1st gen is easy, you roll the lift under the bike, close the valve on the lift, and pump the handle. It is the 2nd gens that need a special lift adapter.

I had a chrome center stand on my RSV and with that type of lift I just rolled under the bike. Did you get a table lift Dan or just the little one.
reddevilmedic Posted April 5, 2013 #5 Posted April 5, 2013 im curious to see this lift. i have just a regular old craftsman motorcycle lift....it works on all my bikes..even the dirt bike

MiCarl Posted April 5, 2013 #7 Posted April 5, 2013 So which one are you trying to use????? For the table, move the U-bolts up by the clamp. Get a pair of tie down extensions and loop them around the forks just above the lower tree. Walk the bike up on the lift. Have the warden tighten the wheel clamp and strap it down to the tie down extensions. Backward is the same, except the extensions wrap around the bag guards (on MKII).
abusive throttle cranker Posted April 5, 2013 #8 Posted April 5, 2013 I have the Harbor Frt lift too. But the exhaust headers hang below the frame rails on the 1st gen. Do you just lift it under the exhaust? O.O The bleepin thing is so heavy I'm afraid of collapsing the header pipes.

O.O The bleepin thing is so heavy I'm afraid of collapsing the header pipes. I was worried about that the first time also. The exhaust pipes are pretty heavy on this thing, I was assured that it would not be an issue and it has not been.
