CaptainJoe Posted April 5, 2013 #26 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) mapfling compared to venture sightings.............hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... I'll take Venturesightings/Venture Rider maps...Don't personally want my info spread to every one on the internet... Would be nice to know, when your traveling, if, there are members in your vicinity.. When I travel, I'm trying to make TIME!... But..................... It would be nice, when one stops for the day, to get a small group of us together, for a meal... Hence the map idea.... ??? or not... It's up to you... Personally, I've found meeting other members of our site, very gratifying....and downright, INTERESTING ! ...LOL Would also be useful if one broke down (not likely for a Second gen) , if only to have a place to safely park their bike, till they could comeback with a trailer. lol... Not to mention the ease of getting instant directions... (well I guess I did mention it) Edited April 5, 2013 by CaptainJoe
CaptainJoe Posted April 5, 2013 #27 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) freebird ... did you have to pass a user & password in your code to google maps? seems the balloon was there a couple years ago... Suggestions: 1. clean up/delete the old sightings 2. rename "Venture sightings" to "Venture Rider Map"? if we are going to use it this way. Edited April 5, 2013 by CaptainJoe
Freebird Posted April 5, 2013 #28 Posted April 5, 2013 I didn't create that map. It was created by a member and I just added a link to it. I have nothing to do with the coding, that is all Google. There would be no way though to keep it even semi-private without a username and password. I was had a members map setup and also linked. It did not use Google at all but the company that did it finally discontinued the service.
Flyinfool Posted April 5, 2013 #29 Posted April 5, 2013 There is a VBulletin add on "VBGooglemap" that does just what is being described here. I use it on a flying forum that I belong to. Only forum members can access it. It only gives out info that each member puts there, or a link to that members profile. If a non VR member tries to access it, all they get is the the VR login screen. Unfortunately it is more work for Don to set it up.
Trader Posted April 5, 2013 #30 Posted April 5, 2013 Is there any REAL distinction between TRIAL members and Supporting members....other than the time limit?

I have downloaded that and will take a look at it when I get the chance. Is there any REAL distinction between TRIAL members and Supporting members....other than the time limit? Yes, there are some distinctions. Trial members have no access to the members list, cannot post classifieds, etc. Mostly things that keep somebody for joining as a trial member only to harvest members information, spam our classifieds, etc.
