luke000 Posted April 3, 2013 #1 Posted April 3, 2013 Today I sold the first "real" bike I ever bought, my 1982 Yamaha Virago. I bought it 3 years ago when I was 16 the day I passed the MSF course. It was a great bike, lots of "First" memories on that bike but I bought the Venture at Xmas and got it plated and registered last friday so this bike had to go. I miss it, and loading it on the new owners trailer was a little sad, but I got money and made a nice little profit at the same time (thank you hipsters for raising the price of used 70's and early 80's motorcycles) http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu29/luke000/IMG_0106-1_zpsaef6bc37.jpg On the new owners trailer http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu29/luke000/0402131621_zpsf304e6d9.jpg And I now had just enough money for my new 2-wheeled ride that I ordered today at work:whistling: http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu29/luke000/96807_zps0fde5d21.jpg
mm482 Posted April 3, 2013 #3 Posted April 3, 2013 It looks like the buyer got a nice ride. I know you will miss it, but having money in hand is good too. Earl
Wade 2000 Posted April 3, 2013 #4 Posted April 3, 2013 Profit is good:thumbsup2: I don't see the motor on the new one you ordered Well at least you can rest up on the Venture after all the peddling
playboy Posted April 3, 2013 #5 Posted April 3, 2013 Hey Luke you might want to get in touch with Rick Butler to have that seat re worked on the new ride :rotf:
pmelah Posted April 3, 2013 #6 Posted April 3, 2013 good job Luke my first bike was a virago 550 ( i think ) i forget what year it was again i think an 81 i pad 200. for it 20 years ago and sold it for 1000.00 2 years later i put alot of miles on it as it was my daily driver rain or shine
abusive throttle cranker Posted April 3, 2013 #7 Posted April 3, 2013 I had one of those for awhile. Sitting on it and riding it its just another UJM. Without seeing the motor it could be a vertical twin. No difference in feel. And the starter grinds metal by the ounce. I sold it before I had to tear into it.
Miles Posted April 3, 2013 #8 Posted April 3, 2013 Luke, only someone under the age of 21 would take the profit from a motorcycle sale...and go order a Bicycle. The rest of us are too old to ride a contraption that has no engine on it.
TDunc Posted April 3, 2013 #11 Posted April 3, 2013 I had a 82 virago 920. Great bike. It was my first shaft drive, first C-Fram and first V-twin. I miss it. (and the digital dash that never went over 85 MPH no matter how fast I was going) BUT...You will enjoy the new bike better.
