Maybe a month ago bike ran great.

Today got it out to go on a ride to test out the latest mods

V max gears and Rick Butler seat mod. these shouldn't have any bearing on the situation.

So I backed it out of the shop turned on the key and pulled the choke as I always do and she fired right up and the RPM's came up as always with choke out. Got off to turn out the shop lights and came right back but before I could get there she started running rough Oh crap left the choke out pushed choke in and she died and wouldn't restart. So I think I flooded it walked away waiting for it to dry out came back later had to start it again with choke out and now that is the only way it will run. Pushed it back into shop and pulled the rear plugs and they looked good not nearly as wet as I was expecting. Dried them off and reinstalled and still the same thing. The minute you try and push choke in she dies. Then I think no clicking from fuel pump because carbs are full right. A few more attempts to start cause I really want to ride and more of the same. So I pull the side cover and check fuel pump and it just kinda thumps one time while I am holding it and turn key on. :confused24: So I pull the pump out and lay it on the passenger floor board and turn key on and same thing one thud. I also opened the petcock with fuel pump disconnected and didn't get any fuel. Yes there is gas in the tank. Put it all back together and it still runs for awhile on full choke before it starts running rough again.

So what gives I'm thinking fuel pumps out but didn't think they went completely out that quick. Fuel filter has been changed but maybe a year ago.

Try bypassing the fuel pump and gravity feed the carbs. You will need an almost full tank of gas to make this work.

Do a search for the procedure. I'm on my phone so can't easily search.

You say you are not getting fuel with the petcock open? IF you have fuel in the tank it should be flowing with it open,if not petcock is plugged up or plugged gas line or filter or all three. I would start there ,if you aint got no fuel it aint gonna run. :080402gudl_prv:

pump should run a couple seconds not sure of actual time when cycling the key when lines are disconnected. You should have fuel running out at petcock with hose off, sometimes it won't gravity feed down to pump if not completely full if checking there.

This was my thought also. I have also seen tanks that look to have fuel in them but its not enough to get over the Petcock inlet. If the fuel is low at all put more in. No flow from an open petcock is pointing to petcock, plugged fuel line..

Went back to shop after I got over my spell of not getting to ride again. I did get fuel with petcock open this time :whistling: Fuel pump still doing the one thud thing so I removed it again placed it on the floor board and pecked on it turn the key on nothing cycled the key a few times and it started running put it back on and nothing. So I think it is definitely the fuel pump. Now I'm thankful I wasn't out on my ride when it crapped out.

Anyway Oreilly's has the 42s mr Gasket pump so I will pick up one in the morning.

How are you guys installing and plumbing the Mr. Gasket pump?

:2cents: I bought one of the Mr, Gasket 42S this weekend and the supply fitting came off when I pulled on the hose a little I would suggest you order the one from Aircraft Spruce.

This thread has a pic of the facet one installed. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=76778&highlight=fuel+pump
