dingy Posted March 31, 2013 #2 Posted March 31, 2013 I just bought these horns and need some help wiring them correctly. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece-12-volt-electric-horn-set-99911.html Attached picture shows installing relay to operate horns. Your two new horns would be down where it says air horn compressor. Two existing horns are at top. Horn button supplies a 12V neg (ground) when pushed. Gary
MiCarl Posted March 31, 2013 #4 Posted March 31, 2013 If you're not keeping the stock horns you can hook the existing horn connectors to terminals 85 & 86 (doesn't matter which polarity) of the relay, run the battery (+) to terminal 30 and connect 87 to the horn (+)
mralex714 Posted April 1, 2013 Author #5 Posted April 1, 2013 If you're not keeping the stock horns you can hook the existing horn connectors to terminals 85 & 86 (doesn't matter which polarity) of the relay, run the battery (+) to terminal 30 and connect 87 to the horn (+) I got them installed today and they are a major improvement over the stock ones.
timgray Posted April 1, 2013 #6 Posted April 1, 2013 When you want to upgrade further, Look at the Wolo Bad Boy. A super compact air horn that will scare a BMW driver with the windows up. Watched him throw his phone in fear as he swerved back out of my lane.
djh3 Posted April 1, 2013 #7 Posted April 1, 2013 :sign yeah that:Second the Stebel/Bad Boy style of horn. I liked the first one so much I added a second one on my 2nd Gen. I searched e-bay and got it for around $25 or so, it is a knock off but works great. Here is one on e-bay $18. http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/47x47/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_14833.jpg

Flyinfool Posted April 1, 2013 #9 Posted April 1, 2013 I have one but haven't figured out a good mounting location. I have BOTH of my Bad Boys mounted on the bag protector frames facing forward. With the 2 of them I have finally achieved the holy grail, I got a cager to throw her phone out the window as she ran a stop sign in front of me. That was so much fun I now have a horn thats significantly louder than 2 Bad Boys, I just have to figure out how to mount it.
timgray Posted April 4, 2013 #10 Posted April 4, 2013 Last time I had the fairing split I ripped out the useless air duct from under the headlight to the vents on the dash. Mounted mine inside the fairing on the left side. without the air ducting in there it has a TON of space to fit one. Completely hidden.
Black wing Posted April 5, 2013 #11 Posted April 5, 2013 ya i did the same i added some puck board and epoxied it to the back of the air intakes to keep the water out and there is so much room in there now

Already have a bad boy installed where the exterior one was...
gscbertrand Posted April 5, 2013 #13 Posted April 5, 2013 Hey folks I would like to buy a pair for my 84 but the web site doesn't give me a chance to buy direct. If some could pick up a pair I will send you the money to ship to Manitoba.
mralex714 Posted April 6, 2013 Author #14 Posted April 6, 2013 Ran across this one on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Truck-12V-Ultra-Compact-Dual-Tone-Electric-Pump-Vehicle-Siren-Air-Loud-Horn-/181107021197?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D6781180860040781398%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D130492267007%26
