bj66 Posted March 29, 2013 #1 Posted March 29, 2013 Some of us grew up having the milkman deliver door to door. I grew up on the farm and had a milkman. Years ago a man bought that delivery service and continued on for another 16 years. So effective monday, I am like everyone else, I will have to get all my dairy products from the store. Its a sad day for us, something we took for granted is now gone. I doubt anyone would ever take over. Thanks for all the years of service Vern Prickett! bongobobny Posted March 30, 2013 #2 Posted March 30, 2013 ***sigh*** Haven't seen the milkman since the neighbor's wife got pregnant back in the 60's...
cecdoo Posted March 30, 2013 #3 Posted March 30, 2013 Been a long time since we had a milk box on the front porch, when I was a paperboy about 48yrs ago everyone would leave their paper money under that box on fridays. Sure made getting paid alot easier and I never remember anyone taking the money. Wonder how that would work out nowadays:think: Craig
bongobobny Posted March 30, 2013 #4 Posted March 30, 2013 Uhhh, in certain neighborhoods paperboys get mugged...
leo3wheel Posted March 30, 2013 #5 Posted March 30, 2013 Yes, miss those broken milk bottles with the frozen necks.
Eck Posted March 30, 2013 #6 Posted March 30, 2013 Yes, miss those broken milk bottles with the frozen necks. Nothing like cleaning up broken glass in the snow...(or ice).... Been there, done that too!! Wish I had one of those old metal milk racks they carried the bottles in..
Dano Posted March 30, 2013 #7 Posted March 30, 2013 We've got one of the old steel insulated boxes they used to put milk in on your porch.....sitting now out on our porch! No milk delivered but it looks good sitting there!

Brake Pad Posted March 30, 2013 #9 Posted March 30, 2013 I was about 7 or 8 when I could remember the milk man delivering, 4 bottles to a tin box. Elizabeth New Jersey. I'm amazed that there is a company still out there doing this.
