ragtop69gs Posted March 29, 2013 #1 Posted March 29, 2013 After the rally in Galena, I am thinking about heading to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and seeing Lake in the clouds, Copper Harbor, Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinaw Island before heading for the barn. I'm asking any folks from Wisconsin and surrounding area's if they have a nice route from Galena up to the Porcupine Mts.? Avoiding interstate travel. Should I plan 1 or 2 days to get up there, my wife is riding her trike and is not crazy about 10-12 hour rides. Where would be a good halfway motel ? Thanks for looking.
Carbon_One Posted March 29, 2013 #2 Posted March 29, 2013 Can't help too much with info but you just might have some company on the way home. All good places to stop and see along the way. Been a while since getting into the western end of the UP. Larry
Prairiehammer Posted March 29, 2013 #3 Posted March 29, 2013 Here is our trip around Lake Superior in 2011. We hit most all the places you are seeking. Although, Galena wasn't part of THAT trip, you can see that we took a meandering route home from Copper Harbor to near Galena (Freeport). Zoom in and you can see the route numbers. There is not a QUICK route from Galena to the UP if the Interstates are out of the picture. http://goo.gl/maps/epPwP

rmac345 Posted March 29, 2013 #5 Posted March 29, 2013 Jay; PM me and I can get you the route to see all of you list starting at the bridge....
Flyinfool Posted March 29, 2013 #6 Posted March 29, 2013 There are some members that will be heading in that direction to get home and will know the better roads to take. If you are thinking of making it a 2 day, the Wisconsin Dells are close to halfway.
leo3wheel Posted March 29, 2013 #7 Posted March 29, 2013 Okay, my antenna are up... Sounds interesting...
Wade 2000 Posted March 29, 2013 #8 Posted March 29, 2013 Ok we are going around Lake Superior on the way home and probably camping along the way. Plan is to head to Duluth MN and then north around lake back through Sue St. Marie and Makinac bridge then 23s. Plan is to take our time so if you are in for it let me know.

spike13 Posted March 30, 2013 #15 Posted March 30, 2013 hwy 107 from Merrill to Tomahawk is a great stretch of road to ride. The Highground in Neillsville is a great place to stretch your legs. I have been told to ride hwy 55 up north of Shawano but have not made it yet.
