Motorcycle Jack

I checked other threads and didn't see one specific to Canadian Tire's jack, which is on sale next week for $69 here in Canada. So, does anyone know how well suited this jack is for our 1st gen Ventures?

I picked one up when it was on sale last year. Not overly impressed. Been a few times trying to lift the bike that it didn't go up. Think the release sticks a bit and prevents raising the lift.

 

Fit doesn't seem too great... lot of play in things. Tolerances could be better.

I got one last year and it seems just fine....except when you lower it (stepping on a release pedal) it DROPS FAST!!!!!

 

I end up lowering it in small steps which can make it rock as it jerks to a stop each time.

 

The fit seems ok...but unless you add spacers you are actually lifting it by the collector.

 

Has to have the center stand up...or the position is such that the balance is way off.

Seriously tho, there's been many posts about M/C jacks and the Can Tire one isn't one of the fav choices. Seems to me a while back they changed suppliers and the one they now carry isn't as good as what they used to have.

 

Princess Auto sometimes has good quality ones but I didn't see anything on their website... sometimes they have stuff in the store that's not on the web.

 

The guys south of us seem to like the Sears jack but here in Canada, Sears doesn't offer them.

I think 4 years ago the quality of the jack was much better. Sure, they probably look similar but I seem to recall more than one poster saying that the current ones just ain't as good and that the lift plates where the bike would sit on aren't even the same size.

 

Now, I'm just going by what I've read in here and passing it along. Y'all can make your own decision.

If you push down on the release pedal and hold it down it starts quick for maybe an inch or two, then glides down slowly.

I have a MotoMaster and a PowerBuilt, both works to my satisfaction, but the MM that they have now is not the same as the one I got. I got mine about 7-8 years ago.

I have an older C/T jack and it is ok...... am I supposed to use some form of adapter on it to keep the exhaust off the jack on the second gen? I had only used it on my old Kawi and Suzukis

And OH,, if you're going to get one and you don't like it, you can always bring it back.

And if your going to get one,,, you might as well get two, that way if you're happy, you can be twice as happy, or if you get ticked, then you can be twice as ticked,,,,, not really, having 2 makes changing the front tire so much easier, 'specially the 'putting it back on' part.

Kevin, you want to contact Carbon One. He makes/sells the lift adapters for the 2nd gen
