Ok it is a Go to uninstall the 89 Engine and install the 91 engine.

Being that the 89 is 24 years old; it is overdue for a through maintenance once over. This has to be a good time to do this.

I would like to ask for all your suggestion and parts I should replace like gaskets.

So Gary (Dingy) has provided the below advise for starters.

Use the 91 ingition unit, much better system.Minnimal harness wiring changes. I can send you the connector you need for the harness side to be able to plug in pickup coil connector. All you should have to do is swap TCI and install new 2 pin connector in place of 6 pin that is on harness now. May have to swap a couple of wires at TCI harness, but I can give you needed changes. Gary.

Following are some of the items I thought of.

1) Should I even consider adjusting the valves with only 9500 miles on the engine.

2) If so I would need a head gasket maybe some shims.

3) Exhaust Gaskets at the cylinder.

4) Maybe the exhaust pipe gasket at the mid point

5) I plan to install the solid alum engine mounts. What do I put between the mounts and the frame do to electrical current?

6) New Carb Gasket, Clean the carbs.

7) Bring the shaft and rear end over too. What kind of stuff do I need for that?

8) Bring the rear shock over,

9) The shock air compression over.

10) Where are the cruise control hardware for my 89 cruise lights up but does not work.

11) Thought a complete brake job would be good. Rebuild the calipers..

Your advise greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you got a good start on it. Di-Electric grease all connectors. Grease speedometer head. I would check the valves just because it would be so easy and replace that valve cover gasket if any seeping at all. It is old. Flushing all lines of course. Clutch spring?? Of course major clean and paint what you can. Maybe a coat of wax on things you will never see again. I think shock and rear direct swap. No carb gaskets unless you take them apart. Both should be Royales so Air ride I think is direct swap. Look for R1 calipers? That ought to keep you busy til lunch tomorrow.:whistling:

Check the exhaust chamber over good. Use best. Maybe remove baffles. Could try with long needle nose and wiggle them til they come loose and pull out or cut open and reweld.

What's wrong with the 89 engine that you're considering this? It's not a quick job!!

Do you have the entire 91, or just the engine/trans?

When I win that Powerball I'll build the Venture of my dreams....:whistling: Let me see, I got a new 83 frame. A 1200 engine with a "new" tranny for it. All the bling you could stick on one. Several "go faster" items. Maybe I just need to get my lazy butt in gear...
