I had read a previous thread by flb78 where he had purchased a Deka ETX20L battery for our bikes at Oreilly Auto Parts under the Super Start house brand name.I have a 2007 RSV that was put into service in November of 2006 with the original Yuasa battery. It still started great and tested at 12.73 when checked with my volt meter, but going on 7 years old, I started getting worried about getting stuck in BFE and it not starting. Push starting a 1,000 lb. bike is not my idea of a good time.I stopped by my local Oreilly's to see if they had one in stock, and to make sure it was a Deka.I was talking to one of the guys at the counter and he told me they would match any competitor's price on a similar battery.Their list price was $101.I knew Walmart had an Everstart battery that listed for $81.88 and asked if they would match that price, and he said yes, they would call and verify the price.I got the battery with a 1 year warranty and with a core swap for $91.88.I hated to turn in a battery that still worked fine, but peace of mind is worth a lot sometimes.I thought I would pass this along to hopefully help some of our members save a little money,if in need of a battery, and thanks to flb78 for the initial info I used to save some money and buy a battery that I hope holds up as good or better than the original.

Thanks for the post, I have bought two of their batteries one is 3 years old and the other is a year with no problems. Oreily's gives military discount too.

Thanks for the info. I just had a couple of local guys order the DEKA's from Bohannons but being able to get them locally is a plus. Not a bad price either with the price match.

My DEKA is going into it's 5th year. It was always showing 12.8v on the digital meter in the mornings. Lately it's been at 12.7v. That isn't to bad of a drop over 4 years. Maybe that will improve when I get back to riding it every day. As long as it still only drops no lower than 11.7 during cranking I'll assume it's holding its own pretty well.

You were wise to replace the battery before you needed to push start. I waited too long and I can tell you it was no fun. My wife just can't push like she used to!

Is ETX20XL the correct part number for the Venture?

For the 2ndGen's. 1stGen's take the ETX18XL... and are a few more buck$ for some reason.

I bought one at Advance Auto on 4/7/13. The price was $114.99, but I ordered it online and used the coupon code 'trt41' and got $40.00 off, so I ended up paying $74.99. I buy almost all my auto parts from Advance on line and check retailmenot.com for the best coupon codes. I always save a lot of cash.

Following Zak202's lead, the 1st gen AGM batteries (ETX18L) are $100.99 at Advance, using that code TRT41 I too got $40 off. So mine was just over $64 with tax. Except I got home, put a voltmeter to it, and it read 4.88v. Not good. Returned it, they didn't have any more at that store, did a transfer, went to that store, it was an un-boxed one reading 11.8v. Not taking that one either. Third store had one in a box, charged up, and all the hardware and literature. So that is now in my bike. Woo hoo. Still need the 4-brush starter tho, but now my voltmeter doesn't drop when I'm at stoplights and it cranks over fast.

My old battery still read 12.6v, but when they load tested it, it showed only 203cca, and recommended replacing.
