91nwl Posted February 7, 2008 #1 Posted February 7, 2008 I recently installed progressive fork springs on my 91 VR. Now I have a fork seal starting to leak. It's making a puddle on the garage floor. Is this common? I'm probably going to have my dealer put in the new seals. The service manager is very VR savi. Any advice? Is there anything else I should have done while they're in there?.
sarges46 Posted February 7, 2008 #2 Posted February 7, 2008 Fork seals leaking on the "older" bikes is not uncommon. I dont think it would be caused by the progressives. Unless maybe you refilled with too much oil.
GeorgeS Posted February 8, 2008 #3 Posted February 8, 2008 Did you use about 1 oz. less fork oil, after installing the new springs ?? The Spring material of the Progressive springs is thicker. So you have less space for Oil. Use 1 to 1 1/2 oz. less oil with the new springs.
