So I'm caging it to a Dr's appointment, and out of the rear view I see a 2004 all white RSV coming up in the left lane. Now I've seen a lot of Ventures on the road, but this guy (50ish) has his bike covered with skulls, decals, wearing a half helmet with all sorts of 'art work' on it and the required leather jacket. I had to laugh... At least he had the smarts to ride something that didn't break down.... :whistling:

Nothing wrong with how he had the bike "pimped out" or what he chose to wear. It's called "Self Expression" and we all do it to a certain extent. Maybe if he saw you on your scoot, he would chuckle at you. He was riding, that is what is important, nothing else.

Just my opinion that was not asked for.

THe luaghs are important too !!!!! I like to chuckle at the weekenders with the leather, boots with all the buckles jackets with studs and that stuff and no helmet. Thinking they are cool man. I just wonder how hot will all them studs and stuff get if they take a slide? Or do they add an extra layer of material to wear down? I see a guy with a nice bike out somewhere "ah cool man what year?" Shes an 09 with 3500 miles aint it nice? "whats it been broke down so you cant ride much?" and watch them look puzzled.

I have fun every year with the Sturgis crowd passing though here. I leave the riders alone but the trailer queens are fair game. I always point out where the closest HD dealership is in case they need new underwear or maybe get their bikes fixed so they can get them off the trailer.

I guess I'm getting old. I remember when on the way to Sturgis the only trailers you saw were pulled by a chase vehicle and empty. The guys that looked tough...... were.

How do you know he is rich?

Oh, not that 1%. Never mind.

Here is one better. Go to Port Dover on Fri 13th. You will be amazed at how many show up in brand new leathers from head to toe and have never straddled a bike in their life.

yeah, I just get a kick out of the "fashion statements" Everything on them is HD. Jacket, bandanna, gloves, jeans, chaps, boots, wallet, sunglasses... Every single item has the HD logo on it.

The problem is I've looked at HD Jackets and Chaps at the local Harley store. I wouldn't trust them to protect me from a sunburn they are built so cheaply.

The thing that drives me nuts is the fools riding with a "Sons of Anarchy" jacket. You don't fly random colors like that, even the colors of a TV show. It's asking for trouble if you turn the wrong corner.

I don't get these kind of threads, that could be someone from here. So even if the person looks like a stereo type HD rider in your eyes and is on your choice of bike he ain't right. I had my Midnight pimped out to the max and heard a lot of nice things about it. I also have the leather to go with it. I play golf at least three times a week during the season . I have a very nice set of Callaway clubs and a bag to match, nice shoes and some golf attire to boot so is it wrong for me to look like this when I'm not in the PGA.

He probably couldnt afford a Roadglide or an Electric Glide so he bought a cheap copy. :rotf:

I think HD makes the nicest riding gear out there and it is pricey I always wanted to buy it but thought I would get crap for being on a RSV. I have always used there boots. go to the swap meets and bike shows if you want to see cheap leather.

You have to give the motor company some credit. They sold alot of people on the cool aid, sort of like apple. Not saying it aint good stuff, just that there is equevilant gear at less prices. They do have some neat stuff, but I dont want to pay to advertise thier brand for them.

Speaking of advertising, do we have Venturerider t-shirts available?

My favorite t-shirt....."No Skulls, No Flames, No screaming Eagles with tribal lighting shooting out of it's a$$. Just me and my bike, I ride!"

But at the same time I get the life style thing and just wear it to get a shot in at my buddies when I ride with them and there HOG clubs rides.

Yup, my wife bought me a SOA t-shirt. I use it as a rag. I told before that I have no interest in that stuff, but she still does it. We were at a bike show and a guy was wearing one and I even told her that I thought he maybe asking for trouble. Never listens, so I got a $15 rag for out in the garage.

I show respect to everyone, regardless of what they wear or ride. Sadly the same can not always be said about them reciprocating. If I ride a non American bike, I must be a traitor. If I chose to ride an American bike, would those same people think I am great?

I absolutely agree with you, but that still doesn't make it something I can't find amusing and laugh at..... :sign20:

And for the rest of you that are so offended, don't get your panties in a bunch.... :duck::rotf::rotf:
