rjmalizia Posted November 17, 2006 #1 Posted November 17, 2006 Riddle me this Batman... As far as I have been able to determine, my 1997 RSTD can muster approximately 75 horses, yet the 1200cc Vmax of that era had 100+/- ponies. What gives? Where are they hiding, and are there ways (inexpensive ways) of corralling em up. As always, thanks for your opinions.
Tartan Terror Posted November 17, 2006 #2 Posted November 17, 2006 Check out this thread. Pegscraper and Wpredock are the ones to pay attentions to in here on this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2803&highlight=vmax+cams
Yammer Dan Posted November 17, 2006 #4 Posted November 17, 2006 LARGE rubber band and hook it to the next 1st Gen that goes by!!
Toolman Posted November 17, 2006 #5 Posted November 17, 2006 the Max has higher compression pistons and a V-boost and a diffrent transmission and rearend. it is geared for the strip
GeorgeS Posted November 17, 2006 #6 Posted November 17, 2006 Just buy a used V Max, cheaper then converting. Lot less work and headaches
pegscraper Posted November 17, 2006 #7 Posted November 17, 2006 Camshaft/valve spring and carb swaps aren't all that difficult depending on how handy you are, and make a huge difference in the early Royal Stars. I'm making 90 rear wheel/106 crank hp in my '96. That 75 hp figure you mention must be crank. After cams and carbs the mods get a little more difficult.
