Well I went to a bike show yesterday and ended up buying a new project for my son and I to work on before I got home. Not a bike though.I ended up getting a 58 Ford F100 Custom Cab pickup with a really straight rust free body.Go pick it up Monday and will put some pics up,can't wait to start on it.

Wow!! Any '58 without rust is a miracle! That was the year of the great steel strike and most cars were made of inferior foreign steel. Great project indeed!! We want periodic pictures!

What a great project. My son and i will be finishing the install of the intercooler into my turbo mustang and maybe add 35lb injectors and a borla exhaust. Its fun working with the kids.

Absolutely,a few years back my son and I restored a 77 Mustang Cobra and built up a 302 Mexican block with a 4 speed behind it and we did it all the body and paint etc. and then traded it off a couple years later and he keeps bugging me come on Dad we need another project so now we got it.

I agree. Very cool. I used to have a '55 with a 66 Mustang 289 engine and drivetrain. That is one that I wish I had held onto.

Looks like ya got a good start on it.

I had a 56 with 312 that would have Smoked that 289......on low end but was geared a lot lower.:stirthepot:

Looks like you have a solid truck to start with so it should turn out great. What if any modern changes will you be making to it or is this going to be an original restoration project?

Years back I had a 49 Chevy 3 window cab truck. I did a complete off frame rebuild and had a 350 Chevy Vette engine with a Muncie 4 speed on the floor. It would move too. 60 mph in 2nd gear anytime. LOL Lots of fun in that machine.

Anyhow have fun with your project Hog and keep us informed on progress.:080402gudl_prv:

that is really cool, I love old pickups and new ones haha. Is it 3 on the tree or in the floor.

My plan is power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning,302 engine,I also am doing a frame off restoration. My last car I did I put the majority of money building the motor up.This one I am rebuilding the motor basically stock except for headers and some chrome on it and put the money in suspension ,paint and interior instead.
