spear Posted March 14, 2013 #1 Posted March 14, 2013 Hey guys. I know similar threads are in existence for four-way hazards, but I want to know is it possible to retro-fit a hazard light switch unit to a 2004 RSV? Why do I speak of retro-fitting? Because the RSV imported to Australia does not have them. True story! I know the RSV in the States has them and the activation switch is on the right side throttle mount.
dingy Posted March 14, 2013 #2 Posted March 14, 2013 And interestingly enough the hazards don't work with the key off. I tried to help Ponch figure his out a couple of years ago over several lengthy phone calls and he didn't get it to work. Gary
XV1100SE Posted March 14, 2013 #3 Posted March 14, 2013 And interestingly enough the hazards don't work with the key off.... Gary Never understood that. Would be nice to be able to operate them if bike is off and parked on the side of the road. This would be a good project to figure out.
Thom Posted March 14, 2013 #4 Posted March 14, 2013 You need 4 diodes , the ones that have 2 ins and 1 out , can find them at your RV store , cut hot wire going to the lite , splice them into each lite , the out side facing the lite , the front lites have tobe spliced in the fairing , the rear can be splice under the seat , run a wire to each of the diodes, plug wire into the left over in side of the diode , run all 4 wires to a switch, other side of switch to a 2 prog flasher can, than to hot fuse . give me a few mins. and I'll down load a wiring diagram . because after reading this , it is as clear as mud .
Thom Posted March 14, 2013 #5 Posted March 14, 2013 maybe this will help , No chicken was harmed in making this drawing .

XV1100SE Posted March 15, 2013 #7 Posted March 15, 2013 Just a thought... want to make up the harness? I'd take one.
Thom Posted March 15, 2013 #8 Posted March 15, 2013 Sorry , I used to wire bikes for a living , I only do it for fun now , show up at Doodles M/D with the parts and w'll get'er done .

Flyinfool Posted March 17, 2013 #10 Posted March 17, 2013 If I am reading the wiring diagram correctly, the front and rear flashers are already connected together on each side, you should only need 2 of the diode sets. One for left and one for right. If this is correct, then you do not need to even go into the fairing unless that is where you want the switch.
