SilvrT Posted March 10, 2013 #1 Posted March 10, 2013 Responses to this should be quite interesting and maybe even comical. Anyhoo, wife and I went out for appy's and drinks last night prior to going to a comedy club. The place is a very popular restaurant/bar and unless you have a reservation on a Sat night, you're lucky to get in. I ordered (among other things) a Lettuce Wrap. Now, some of you might not know what that is so do a Google search on them. I had the "chicken" wrap ... they are quite good. To make a long story short, we got our entire meal paid for (except our drinks) by the manager due to something I found in the mix for the lettuce wrap. I'm not tellin just yet what that was but it has got to be the oddest, most unlikey "foreign" object I've ever seen or heard about being in somebody's restaurant meal. Not hair, not a bug, something totally unexpected (as if one could expect something LOL). So, tell us what your weirdest "thing" was and after we've had a few responses, I'll let you know what I found.

Marcarl Posted March 10, 2013 #3 Posted March 10, 2013 Not me, but a customer of ours found a head of a frozen turkey stuck in the large cavity of the bird. It was set so that when a person would reach into the cavity their finger or fingers would slide right into the open beak. Needless to say, they didn't eat turkey for Christmas, and the companies flooded them with other tangible things. And as a meat manager I was blamed for letting this bird out of the store,,,,,,, ya right!
BlueVenture87 Posted March 10, 2013 #4 Posted March 10, 2013 A rubber mouse... While all the tavern "regulars" were watching out the corners of thier eyes! I ate the scrambled eggs anyway. -JK
oldgoat Posted March 10, 2013 #5 Posted March 10, 2013 chewing gum in my eggs. made me wonder if the cook spit in my food? I did not pay and I did not eat. did not even drink the iced tea.
KICKSHOT Posted March 10, 2013 #6 Posted March 10, 2013 I found some weird thick gooey stuff in the bottom of a dr pepper once. Can only imagine it was syrup. But when I was working after school in a Dairy Queen one of our customers found a grass hopper in a buster bar. kickshot
Prairiehammer Posted March 10, 2013 #7 Posted March 10, 2013 An intact cicada in my ham salad sandwich. It was a prank by my coworkers. I took a bite and encountered a "crunch". Rather unexpected while munching a ham salad sandwich. I peered into the sandwich, saw the dead cicada, replaced the bread and continued eating. Some of the guys groaned and left. I waved the inedible wings and declared that a goooood samich. The perpetrators turned green and hurried off.
SilvrT Posted March 10, 2013 Author #8 Posted March 10, 2013 So, keep in mind that I'd ordered the "chicken" lettuce wraps.... I'd filled and eaten a couple of the wraps already and was spooning up my 3rd when I saw what I thought was a long piece of chicken breast. Moved it a bit with my fork and I had to do a double-take ..... what I saw initially was the flat edge of a ............. WOODEN CLOTHES PIN !!! OMG!!! how in the heck could a clothes pin wind up in a kitchen and somehow find it's way into my food! I called the server over and just pointed at it ... she too exclaimed "OH MY GAWD!!" Well, whenever I order food, I always say NO ONIONS so apparently the kitchen pins "special instructions" to the side of the plate (or in this case, bowl) using a clothes pin. LOL! I guess one of the staff accidentally knocked it into the bowl or it somehow sprung itself loose at the same time they were filling the bowl with the lettuce wrap filling! Well, I'm not one to get freaked about such things .... the manager came over and he and the server were very apologetic, I got another order, and they picked up the tab! We actually had a good laff about it. I'll have and please hold the onions and the clothes pins!! LMAO!
Snaggletooth Posted March 10, 2013 #9 Posted March 10, 2013 You mean as far as something that couldn't be chewed and swallowed........ nah. Nothing yet. But then again I'm not all the picky of an eater. But that does give me an idea for another thread.
bongobobny Posted March 10, 2013 #10 Posted March 10, 2013 Uhhhh, I found my tooth after it broke off once...
bill in mn Posted March 10, 2013 #11 Posted March 10, 2013 I made blueberry pancakes for my youngest daughter and she was slow to the table so I had ate two by the time she got there. She put the syrup on hers from the old restaurant type dispenser with the thumb lever " Dad there are ants in the syrup" no those are blueberries , No those are ants, big black carpenter ants . I put my reading glasses on and sure enough "Ants" I didn't taste the at all. My brother found a band-aid in his Vietnamese stir fry with a spot on it and all. They gave him another free meal and he gladly accepted it,yuck!
motorcycle_1300 Posted March 11, 2013 #12 Posted March 11, 2013 found a paper napkin(crumpled) in my half eaten sausage gravy biscuit breakfast. Hard to believe but I have gone back there since, the food is good, but I now look close before my first bite Al:shock3:
vasquelli Posted March 11, 2013 #13 Posted March 11, 2013 How about some tin foil? Gotta love it when you romp down on a good BBQ sandwich only to bite into a piece of metal!
greg_in_london Posted March 11, 2013 #14 Posted March 11, 2013 When I saw the post I thought someone had been listening to the international news. Over here there have been big scandals because traces of horsemeat have been found in beef products. They've gone mad testing everything and pulling products off the supermarket shelves - some beef lasagne ready meals had 100% horse - others just traces of horse DNA.
uncledj Posted March 11, 2013 #15 Posted March 11, 2013 Not sure if this qualifies, but I sometimes keep a bag of Twizzlers in the work van to nibble at. I had an opened bag that I'd been working on for a week or two, and started noticing that they weren't all as smooth as they should be. As I got nearer the end of the bag they were pretty ragged, and I thought the Twizzler machine at the factory must have been out of sorts. No biggie, they taste the same. When I was on the last one, I noticed something in the bottom of the bag......MOUSE TURDS !!! Needless to say I didn't eat the last couple of Twizzlers. Nasty !!! but there wasn't much I could do about it. I never did actually see or catch the mouse, but I saw other evidence that he'd been living in the van.
etcswjoe Posted March 11, 2013 #16 Posted March 11, 2013 One time I found actual food in a meal form the Navy Galley My folks came up to visit me in Norfolk so I ordered 100 hot wings from a local place and we had finished off all but the last one and when I grabbed it deep fried right to the side of it buffalo sauce and all was a crispy cock roach. I just dropped it back in the baq and got up like nothing had happened could not eat wings for a couple weeks after that.

Horsemeat used to be available at the butcher shop (a specialty shop that was allowed to sell it) ... I've had horsemeat steaks back in the late 60's early 70's .... the Dutch folk were regulars (my 1st wife is Dutch). It was good if cooked properly.
Guest Posted March 11, 2013 #18 Posted March 11, 2013 Well, one time while I was spraying an old girlfriend with a can of Reddi-Whip and cheeries....no, wait...this was meant for another website.........:whistling:

ragtop69gs Posted March 11, 2013 #20 Posted March 11, 2013 I came home from work one night to find my wife and friend sitting in the kitchen talking , my wife turned to me and said there's a chicken dinner in the oven. I washed up got a plate out and opened the oven door, out pops this live chicken and starts running around the kitchen talking, darned near gave me a heart attack . They were rolling on through floor laughing . I wasn't so amused.
Pegasus1300 Posted March 12, 2013 #21 Posted March 12, 2013 There once was a man from LaRue Who found a very large mouse in his stew Said the waiter don't shout or wave it about or the rest will be wanting one too.
