djh3 Posted March 10, 2013 #1 Posted March 10, 2013 Hope I got a good deal. It sure apears I did. I just picked up a set of K&N filters for the RSV on amazon for less than $36 shipped. It said "like new" and something about verified. So hope so. Shoot the OEM ones are more than that so I figured I should be good.
djh3 Posted March 15, 2013 Author #2 Posted March 15, 2013 Air filters showed up today. A #1 condition, box hadnt even been opened that I could tell. I do have a question on the K&N filters though. When you reciev them are they ready to mount right out of the plastic wrap? They look sort of oiled but I havent taken them out yet.
Flyinfool Posted March 15, 2013 #3 Posted March 15, 2013 If it is red it is ready to go. If it is white it needs to be oiled before use. The K&N oil is red so that you can tell when you have full coverage. When it comes time to clean it, it will be white when fully clean.
djh3 Posted March 16, 2013 Author #4 Posted March 16, 2013 Thanks Jeff. They look redish. Bags they are in look sort of oily like where the rubber is touching. Its been a long time since I put the one in a Mustang Gt I had so memory isnt allways the best guide. I got them for a tick over $35, so lees than what a OEM would have run. I'm a happy dude. Well as far as that goes, on the other hand it took me over 5hr to change a radiator in my sons 01 300m chrysler. Obviously nobody put any thought into one of these things having to be serviced.
