Riding season is about to start so things to check :

- trunk hinge screws

- saddle bag hinges

- tires - age, wear and pressures

- shocks - set your pressures

- assorted bolts and screws (such as shifter bolt)

- rear shock (oil on bottom of shock?)

- steering head - do the steering test while on the lift and tighten head if necessary)

- brake pads

- helmets - supposed to be replaced if more than 7 years old

- riding gear - boots and gloves in good shape, jacket (still fit? LOL)

Hope I've reminded you of a few items. Add more if I missed anything.

Thanks for the reminder. Us lucky guys down south who get to ride all year probably over look the "spring cleaning lookover" as we ride most the year around. I have a left saddlebag lid that when I go to close I have to push the rear of in towards the bike because it wont line up exactly rite. I think I'll have time this week. Maybe I'll just go out and give'r a good ole nut and bolt check. changed the hydro fluids in Oct after what felt like a near death (or as close as I care to get) experience in NC.

Check that screw on the shifter

Spray some silicone/ lubricant on the linkage in front of and below the left floor board

Place a spare key in a side bag or in the trunk or somewhere where YOU know where it is

Check the allen head screws above the side bags / under the trunk - tighten all of them

Grease the splines and drive shaft

Install the ignition switch by-pass mod so you never get stranded, for there is NO warning.

Check those little allen head screws that hold the chrome piece on the rear of the front fender

uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh...........what's that? I think I could figure it out (hot wire type of thing) but without a meter on the side of the road, probably would take me a while with everyone waiting for me to figure it out..........or I could just ask you guys..........whatcha' talkin' bout?

So if you install the switch on the circuit between the blue/brn and red wires (I think thats what it said) then you shouldnt even need a keey. Which would meant anybody could get off with your bike.

I guess I need one of them cable lub thingy's. I have never owned one. I dont supose spraying lube down the open end is good enough to get it down huh?

Well, yes, and no..........

If you place the toggle switch in a place that only YOU know where it is.......no one can just walk up and steel your bike...it is there for emergency only and you need not tell anyone where you located it...

No... you still need the key on for it to start. You can flip the switch and everything will power up, it'll even crank but, it won't start without the key on.
