Rickman Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Hello, I have a 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and like many of you have already done, want to change the handlebars. From what I read, most riders are putting on the Flanders Wide Pullback Bar. Here are the specs direct from the Flanders catalog for the Wide Pullback Bar: Flanders Wide Pullback Bar Part No 650-08783 Diameter 1" Height 8" Pullback 17" Center 9" Width 33½" Flanders also has a Narrow Pullback Bar. Here are the specs direct from the Flanders catalog for the Narrow Pullback Bar: Flanders Narrow Pullback Bar Part No 650-08773 Diameter 1" Height 7" Pullback 16" Center 9½" Width 31¼" As you can see the Narrow Pullback bar is 2 1/4" narrower, height is 1" less and pullback is 1" less. Questions: Has anyone installed the Flanders Narrow Pullback bar on a RSTD? Will the Flanders Narrow Pullback bar fit on a 2006 RSTD? Would longer cables be necessary and what length? Feedback? Thank you very much. Rickman
headdoc Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 That is a GOOD question! I would also like to know what others think about it. Mark
RSTDdog Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) I still run the stock bars. From a logical perspective, changing the bars will change where your hands end up and relative position width, height to your shoulders, back, etc. Obviously the narrow pulllback won't be as wide, high, or back as far as the wide pullback. Try to measure/mock up where you want your hands to be relative to the stock bar. Measuring the stock bar in a similar method to the way FLanders measures their bar will give you an idea which would be better fit for you. IOW you need to know the height and pullback of the stock bar to know where the grips will end up with the two Flanders choices relative to that. Having never installed a set can't tell you if/what needs to lengthened. I think FuzzyRSTD did a write up on his Flanders install that has that info. here is a link:http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67106&highlight=Flanders Seems some change the hoses and some don't. Giventhe age of these bikes, probably not a bad idea. Edited June 22, 2013 by RSTDdog
billmac Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I just adjusted my handle bars up an inch and really did not see why you could not use any 1" handle bars as long as the spread where the speedo sets between the bars are the same. did I miss something? not talking about the cables just the bars.
