onenut Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 So keep seeing a couple o drops on bottom of the filter cover finally got under it and took a good look come to find out someone has bottomed the bike one to many times and bent the bottom of where the filter goes not the cover but the piece on the motor think it will be ok once it warms up it quits dripping so going to keep an eye on it don't want to take a chance on it cracking if I try to straighten it any other ideas
abusive throttle cranker Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 You could try some silicone. I do on occasion see an oil pan on ebay. And its not terribly hard to swap out.
dingy Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) So keep seeing a couple o drops on bottom of the filter cover finally got under it and took a good look come to find out someone has bottomed the bike one to many times and bent the bottom of where the filter goes not the cover but the piece on the motor think it will be ok once it warms up it quits dripping so going to keep an eye on it don't want to take a chance on it cracking if I try to straighten it any other ideas PM me. I have a spare good oil pan. But the part that is bent is on the lower block, not the oil pan. Whole different replacement problem. Gary Edited March 9, 2013 by dingy
onenut Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Ya oi pan is fine and I do beleive the housing for the oil filter is part of the engine cast right dingy so just going to keep an eye on it had it running for half hour or so and once it warms up the o-ring swells enough to seal it maybe next winter figure something out till then it's getting warmer and I'm dieing to get it out on my maiden voyage
