1928 Rolls-RoycePiccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father,

brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.

He drove it up until his death last year.....at

the age of 102 !!!

He was the oldest living owner of a car that was

purchased new.

It was donated to a

Springfield museum after his death.

It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs

like a Swiss watch, dead silent

at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic

condition. (82 years). That's

approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per

month)...

1,070,000 that's miles not kilometres!!

:thumbdown:I'm still driving a 1998 Ford Taurus and a 2004 Buick Regal. My Taurus is old enough to be semi private. For less than hte price of newer cars I may just see hwo long one can be made to last.

I'm driving a nice dumb 96 GMC that I bought new in 95.

Still drives as good as new with a mere 300K miles on the clock.

I have no plans to replace it. After all it is the newest vehicle I own.

 

I guess I have a ways to go to catch up to this guy.

My wife just got rid of a Jeep Cherokee Sport that had 300,000 mi and it still ran like a top.

The Chevy is getting a bit of rust at the cab corners and tailgate which I replaced with an earlier model due to bending the original. Other than that the body still looks decent. The Jeep however had one surface spot about quarter size that was it. My brother bought it and loves it

I've been impressed with it so far, it gets worked usually always pulling a trailer. My daily drivers a 89 honda with 410,000 and a 02 subaru wrx with 170,000.

Yes I bought it new it had 8/10th's of a mile when I got it. It still looks good ( paint getting worn ) and still solid a few rattles but nothing like the truck before it. I had a 1990 Dodge Cummings 4x4 that I bought used with 30,000 miles on it. It had a little over 800,000 miles when I basically gave it away on trade in but it was wore out and I didn't want anyone I knew buying it.

I tow a 8-12,000 pound trailer 4-6 times a month with 650 mile rounds trips. I've tried several ways and several trucks doing this and a single rear wheel 3/4 to 1 ton pickup works the most economical. I rented a new Tundra to try last weekend with the 5.7 liter 8 mpg loaded, the Chevy gets 16. They want $30,000 plus my old one for a 2013 ouch.

I looking at a Ford superduty F250 extended cab 4x4 with the 6.2 gas and its gonna cost me more than that

I am not as close to some of you, but we now have 4 vehicles (not including the bikes) for 2 drivers. My wife always drives a new(er) Acura. Her employer pays the monthly lease payment and she gets a new one every 3 years. Now me, I drive an 02 Ford Taurus with 150K on it now. Getting ready to sell that to downsize a bit. I also drive a 98 Ford Expedition with 150K on it. A couple months back the Expedition left me stranded on the way to work one morning at 4AM. I was not happy considering I had had a pain in the ass to find electrical problem and had only been back on the road for 3 weeks before getting stranded again. Now I am not a fancy pants car guy, but with my wife working for a large dealership and me falling in love with her Acuras, I called her at 4AM and told her to pick me up on her way in. She did and I found a used MDX on the lot with low miles and very well kept. 2 hours after getting to the dealership I left with it. Now she also gets very good deals on the used vehicles so I was happy. And after an alternator and a new belt, the Expedition is running like a champ and the MDX is sitting. I plan on driving that Expedition until it dies somewhere.

Yep another diesel. They are wanting to give me $1300 for mine on trade, I think not. I can get the truck for just a little over $32,000 with my discounts straight out.

 

I tried the F250 gas and the Ram 2500 gas last year, both trucks ran great. The fuel mileage was in the 9-11 range towing. They have diesels also that get close to the same as the chevy but cost me quite a bit more.

 

I think for now I will stay with what I have, it's paid for but I also know the transmission is going to let loose one day eventually. I figure it will go before the engine maybe wrong will see.
