Please post GOOD pictures with your items for sale

I am interested in buying a 1st gen Venture. I have found some online, and found some on this forum. While I patiently wait for Ken's bike to be listed on the auction thread for St. Judes, I continue to peruse the ones available from members of our own forum.

What I would ask anyone that is posting anything that they are wanting to sell is...PLEASE post really good pictures of the item you are wanting to sell. If you post only one picture of a bike for sale, and that one picture is from a distance, then how can you expect to attract a buyer? If the pictures you do post are all in shadows, tilted, out of focus, etc,. then how can you expect to attract a buyer ?

All I am saying is...if you want a buyer to purchase your item, then please go out of your way to show your item in its' best light, in focus, in multiple shots, so that buyers are attracted to the item.

Whew...some times it is like pulling teeth...:(

Good point! Often times I will look at an item that is posted for sale, but go no further if I can't see what I want, and that would be a good looking piece.

I assume, and maybe wrongly at times, but I assume that if the picture(s) is\are not bright and clean then there is something hidden, and so I move on.

You could be losing out on a really great item if you assume that just because pictures are not great the seller is trying to deceive you. Not everyone is dishonest and trying to hide something. That may apply of Fleabay but not here

Yep, you is absolutely, entirely, and without question,,,, correct!, But on the other hand, I'm Dutch and hate spending money on an item that I didn't want, and if it's not in the condition that I was expecting, or better, then I don't\didn't want it. So good pictures help me to decide whether the wording of the advertizing is the same as reality, and if the picture doesn't show good, I move on,,, just in case. No problem for me,,, really,,,, but a bummer for those who would like to have me buy their item, which I'm not obligated to do, even though I might be the only one wanting such a piece.

I agree that pictures, should be representative of the item as much as possible, but I personally would not purchase on pictures alone without going to "put my eyes" on the item. Pictures never give all the detail and can be quite deceiving all on their own without any body having a diabolical plot to fool a buyer. My opinion is that the photo's give a buyer an idea it your item is what they are looking for.

Case in point is the boat we have for sale on this site right now. The boat has been in storage all winter, and we really don't have any pictures of the boat itself, just us playing at the lake. A buyer contacted me the other day because he found it on CL but was literally a 1000 miles away. He used to have a boat like ours and really liked it but wanted another one setup a little different. And was looking for that all important right color the family wanted this time. We agreed to pull the boat out of storage, and snap some pictures, un-winterize it, fire it up and send some video with sound......anyway, by the time we were done, the sun and shadows were not helping me provide the pictures I would like to have had. Bad weather was expected the next day and the boat had to be put back into storage, winterized and all. For the time being I have some pictures to show but agree they could be better. And in my case the pictures , don't come close to doing the boat justice, but you get the idea.

What irks us more than anything, is people don't seem to bother to clean their stuff up when they try to sell it. I guess yo get to pay for dirt too! LOL

Good pictures are a good point. Especially for customers that live too far to come personally and see an object. I try to take good shots AND close ups of any defects or scratches so that no one is wasting their time or money on something that is not up to their quality.

Folks, I do not believe at all that anyone on this forum is trying to decieve any buyers...by posting bad pictures. That was never my intent when I started this thread. The biggest reason I would buy from a person on this forum, rather than someone on fleabay, or CL, is because I have faith in members of this forum, and...I know where to find them. (ha ha)

But...I have personally bought bikes and cars from vert far distances, without having seen them in person, because...the pictures supplied by the owner told a good enough story of the vehicle, and I was able to talk with the owner sufficiently enough to be comfortable with the item. I have flow from Seattle to Cherry Hill, NJ to pick up a bike...and flown to Jacksonvile, FL to pick up a bike, and flown to San Diego to pick up a bike. All of these were bikes I could not find anywhere else, because they are no longer made, and these were the best I could find. But the owners supplied me with countless pictures, all good pictures, and I paid the asking price of the bikes, because of good dealings with the owners.

All I am saying, and...please do not read anything else into this...is that if you want to sell an item, supply the buyer with copious amounts of solid pictures.

You've posted good information which makes life easier for the seller and the buyer. Clear pictures of any damage/blemishes is as important as showing the good parts so there are no surprises, especially if the buyer is travelling a great distance expecting one thing and finding another ("hidden" or undocumented issues).

I believe getting good quality pictures of a 1st Gen is more difficult than a 2nd Gen since on a 1st Gen the parts are faded, hanging loose/crooked from the cracks. Think the best light for most of them was almost 30 years ago. :rasberry:

(sorry.... couldn't resist. Held back this long ! )

Ya I know what you said is maybe not what you meant,,,,,, the real reason that a 1st gen is so hard to get a good picture from, is that it is mostly a blurr as it goes by, it may look faded and cracked, but we can't do much about the cameras people use.

Now the 2nd gens on the other hand spend a lot of time whining, so not hard to get a picture there.

Brian, yes it would. That pretty girl would be blocking the view of the bike, and that is what I would be interested in. It is against the law in most states to buy a pretty girl, but we can buy motorcycles in all states.

Maybe Texas is the exception to that rule.:rotf:

Ok....... What section are the pretty girl pictures???:confused24:

They're at the bottom of the screen, so you need to turn your screen upside down, then shake it, and if they're ready they show up,,,, but only if they're ready!
