dbikers Posted February 22, 2013 #1 Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) i have a '96 rs boulevard. i like the look of of the bike but the original seat is horribly uncomfortable....horrible for rides much further 75 miles long story short i came across this seat. it has never been out of the bag and i can't wait to see how much of a difference this will make and how much more comfortable this will be. my question really is this...anyone out there have this seat on your ride? is it better than stock? thanks in advance http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2013-02-20160334_zpsd1c70039.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2013-02-20160442_zps1e886d91.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2013-02-20160545_zps77a57516.jpg Edited February 27, 2013 by dbikers reader's digest
dbikers Posted February 27, 2013 Author #2 Posted February 27, 2013 nobody runs the mustang seat or is this in the wrong forum ( am not sure what gen this bike is) ...just looking to get any type of feedback on comfort level on this vs stock...they look very similar.. picking it up next weekend. thanks in advance
Pegasus1300 Posted February 27, 2013 #3 Posted February 27, 2013 My son has a Mustang seat just like that tho it is on an Intruder. It is very comfortable and he has been on several long(several days worth) long trips with no discomfort.
Carbon_One Posted February 27, 2013 #4 Posted February 27, 2013 Can't vouch for your 96 RS but I had one on a Suzuki Volusia and it made a world of difference in rider comfort. All day rides were possible with hundreds of miles clocked. Larry
dkip Posted February 27, 2013 #5 Posted February 27, 2013 Have one on my 2006 RSTD and like it very much Dale
gmarshall Posted February 27, 2013 #6 Posted February 27, 2013 Take your original seat and send it to Rick Butler. He'll re sculpt it and put in memory foam. You'll love the difference.
calperin Posted February 27, 2013 #7 Posted February 27, 2013 I replace my originals for Mustang and are GREAT!!!
jfoster Posted February 27, 2013 #8 Posted February 27, 2013 I had the mustang on my 06 RSTD and didn't like it. For me it was to shallow and had me up on the tank. I'm 6' 240 lbs. if your smaller it may not be an issue.
TDbiker Posted February 28, 2013 #9 Posted February 28, 2013 I bought the Mustang set (with driver backrest) the 2nd day after I bought my 2005 RSTD. Made a world of difference over stock. This was before I knew about this site and the Rick Butler Mod, or I probably would have tried that first. I still would have had to purchase a driver backrest, because for me not having one is not an option. Still using my Mustang, and I still like it. I'm 6' and about 200lbs if that helps.
dbikers Posted March 11, 2013 Author #10 Posted March 11, 2013 thanks all for the responses. here is what it looks like on the bike (with my "new" jardines). seems nice enough but not sure how comfy it'll be as i have only put about 20 miles on it.... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2013-03-10_18-18-51_64_zps58bc9f28.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2013-03-10_18-19-03_475_zps86a2d6ce.jpg
Snaggletooth Posted March 11, 2013 #11 Posted March 11, 2013 I'll be watching for your opinion after a long ride. One of my riding buddies has an '09 Boulevard and won't ride with me on the weekends as his tail section drives him nuts with the stock seat. He'd be more than happy to find one more comfortable one and get some miles in.
dbikers Posted March 12, 2013 Author #12 Posted March 12, 2013 snag.... not sure how much the seat does but man, those tubes really open it up! i don't know whether or not i'll have to re-jet but i do like how she runs with these pipes http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/61527041-50b3-433a-b1cb-2ae0a3f9e581_zps68efd761.jpg
