Quite a few years ago someone made a VENTURERIDER screen saver for us here and I wanted to take it and copy it off my home computer and copy it to my laptop. But I am not very computer savvy and don’t know how??

I have looked all through the past posts and could not find the screen saver labeled VENTURERIDER SCREENSAVER so it must of been before the crash. It is really a great screen saver with our member’s pictures of their bikes.

If any of you know how I can copy the one I have so I can move it, I would greatly appreciate it. Lots of nice bikes are on this one. It would be really cool if I could post pictures of my bike with them but I might be asking way too much with this one, Just to be able to make it portable would be enough.

But on the other hand someone may want to take on a project of making a new screen saver and get members to send them pictures. As the saying goes IF I knew how I would be glad too! Just a thought..............Ron

I agree that it may be time for a new screen saver if enough people are interested. As for copying the one that you have, it should be a file named VR.exe or maybe VR2.exe. You just need to copy that file from one computer to the other.

Thanks Don

I don’t know where the file would be, I have looked in control panel and add/remove files but not finding anything resembling VR. I have found it in the screen saver in the display section but I cannot copy or move or even delete a file from there.

With these type computer anymore there is not a need for a screen saver I just think it’s cool to look at the bikes when I leave the computer for a while.

If you’re going to put one together let me know I’m interested in a new one.

THANK YOU Don....

Hubby can't make an ipad app, however here's the instructions to set the screensaver to the pics you want.

Mike has agreed to make an app. It shouldn't take him very long to do it once he gets started. but the soonest he might have time is spring break, end of March, or between semesters in May, feel free to submit pics to the thread or email them directly to me @ wildkat@gmail.com.

I d/led and installed with no problems. Did have me confused for awhile tho....My computer is in the basement.......same as 22 yr old stepson.......I was up stairs watching TV when all I could hear was country music......waited for awhile and just figured his music taste had changed again....didn't know about the tunes.....duh!

Windows 8 running here.

Got a bottom of screen Windows popup that said vr2.exe not a commonly run program and only gave me an option to delete. Used a pulldown option to get the download to complete.

Tried to run it and nothing happened. Had to use [rt click] 'run as administrator' to get it to run and install. It shows up in my Control Panel > personalization screen as the screen saver. The screen saver runs for about 30 seconds then disappears?

Maybe because the screen isn't really idle? Will see what happens when I walk away for a ferw minutes.

Thanks Don that is Fantastic! Yes GAWildKat it would be fantastic to have a new version as well! It would be great to get pictures of members and their bikes that we don't all get to meet to display and put some faces to the names for us long distant folks.

Mike's spring break from college is the last week of March, he should be able to start the project then. If not, mid May. If everyone wants to email pics to me instead of adding them to the thread, let me know. Mike's been so insanely busy this semester with school I barely see him on the days when he doesn't have to work. (Like today) He's upstairs doing homework and only came down for dinner.

Anyone can start submitting now, what I will do is save all of them to a folder on my laptop til Mike's ready to do the job. He did want to know if he should include an option for music or not. He won't be adding his own music tastes, rather have the option to create a playlist of music once the screensaver starts...thoughts?

Only thought... other than thank you..... is can we get a members name put on the picture when it is showing.... maybe even a location if they would provide one. I love the screen saver Don shared earlier but I have no idea who anyone is in the pics or where they are.

That is easy enough to do. Mike suggested everyone edit their pics to add their name and location, however I think it might be better if I, the ever so busy housewife does it so the font and color stays uniform across the pictures. Do we do:

Name

User Name

Home Location

Location of Photo

Photo date

Feedback helps!

If you want to create one from scratch, that is fine. If you want to do it quickly though, I have the software that makes it very easy. You simply select the pictures you wish to use, add whatever music you wish to add, choose the type of transition effects you want between slides and save. it.

I think Mike likes the challenge, I keep telling him he needs to make nonschool related programs to add to his resume, I think he decided he could make a screensaver once he read up on the basics. I think too, it means he also has something he likes on his computer as well.
