Cassette Player Keeps Switching Sides

The tape deck on my first gen works great, but will just keep switching sides of the tape.. Any ideas? Don't want to replace it

You still have tapes??

try a can of air with the straw, spray into the deck while holding and a vacuum on the face of the deck, that should pull out any dust or lint that ended up in there. Then try a cleaner tape and see if that helps.

 

It could also be some drag in the cassette you are playing
