Don't know if anyone here is interested but this site has alot of pictures. My father was at D-Day on a LST. He didn't talk much about it but when he did I could tell it left quite a impression on him. I'm always on the lookout for any pictures of the ship he was on. There were not any here but quite interesting anyway.

Hey thanks alot my Dad fought too in France and Germany during WW11. Tom Brokaw coined them right, "The Greatest Generation", we owe them our freedom. Thank them when and where you see them.

If ever you are on the south coast of England, visit the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth. http://www.ddaymuseum.co.uk/

 

I have visited a couple of times with my mother, who was on the Coast as the troops were gathering for the embarkation. The tapestry is amazing!

 

Outside is this very moving statue of a young soldier. Who knows what was in his letter.
