Yamamama started a thread no mo ammo and some were contemplating? moving to states with lower cost of living , less regulations.

Connecticut wants you to have only ONE bullet in the firearm. I guess they must think much of your damage can be done by throwing the remaining bullets at the assailant. :080402gudl_prv:

We are a Pro-Gun State here....and....We have Open Carry which is great too.:cool10:

I'm Georgia born and raised...like Boomer, my husband left the great frozen north and has no plans to return...ever. He said it would take a great need to make him want to return to Connecticut.

Your car is also an extension of your home and can have a concealed weapon inside. No property taxes under $75k.

I have no use for Connecticut. I had a nephew that played football in Iowa. They moved to Connecticut for a few years and they wouldn't let him play. Said he was to big. He never played again.

 

Now if that was about stupid..Too big to play football?????

 

He wasn't 6'9 300+ pounds in the 2nd grade was he?

 

I just had to laugh at that one...

 

All jokes a side that was a real shame he couldn't play..

Having recently retired I left NY and previously VT due to out of control governments overreaching regulation and cold weather.

 

I read through the list but am pretty happy with my choice anyway. Roads could have a few more curves. Beer could come in some flavor other than Lite.

 

I do dislike how articles about ten best don't just put a list upfront, not have us page through a bunch of verbose prose just to get the basic info, but thanks for posting it.

It's Kalifornia.... There are more people living here on welfare than actually work... Gotta be a correlation between that and the cost of living....

We bought 25 acres in the Tennessee mountains last year and are planning to make a run for it in a year or two. 45 minutes to the BRP and less than an hour to all the great roads around the Smoky Mtns Park.

 

I was pleased to see that TN is ranked #1 on that list. My retirement will go much farther there.

I fell fortunately that I was born and raised in TN and came back to TN after the military. Of all the places I have ever been, the mountains and the people of east TN are the best.

Dozens? How about THOUSANDS! The number varies depending on your definition, but its about 2500-3000 small towns in Texas.

 

This article about Texas gun laws needs updating:

Texas is, of course, known for its gun-friendly laws. The state does not require a permit or registration to own or purchase a gun. A permit is required for carrying a handgun but Texas is a shall-issue state which means that they are required to issue a permit to any qualified applicant. Texas has castle doctrine and stand-your-ground laws which allow a person to use deadly force against anyone forcibly and unlawfully entering or attempting to enter their home. The person using self-defense does not have a duty to retreat.

 

The 'Castle Doctrine' in Texas extends not only to the person's home, but also his or her vehicle, and anyplace else that person is legally allowed to be, and legal to carry a gun, with or WITHOUT a carry permit. Felons, and anyone committing a crime, are of course, exempted. Schools, federal facilities, and bars, are common exceptions.

From Florida, My only two states I can't carry in is WI. & MI, while traveling up there, BUT Ill. is BLACK and gives no reason for it. anyone from Illinois, help me out with this one?

 

Found it: (Illinois is the only state that does not allow some form of concealed weapons permit.) I guess I'll have to lock it up ( with a key'ed Box)

As I understand it Ill. does not offer carry permits BUT I have heard the there is a bill before the Ill. congress to change that.

I live in Arkansas and grew up outside Chicago and visit there but do not take my gun.

I may be wrong through ??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in non reciprocal you can transport your weapon, provided it is out of reach, in a locked box and seperated from it's ammo.... (see NRAs link below for exclusions)

 

 

I've carried for years and been to just about every state. Sometimes you have to lock it up though.

 

That doesnt mean I don't take it into my motel at night for protection. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Your statement is correct, It has to be in a Locked Box, separated gun from ammo
