Barrycuda Posted February 10, 2013 #4 Posted February 10, 2013 Or Connecticut..... Connecticut wants you to have only ONE bullet in the firearm. I guess they must think much of your damage can be done by throwing the remaining bullets at the assailant.
BoomerCPO Posted February 10, 2013 #5 Posted February 10, 2013 We are a Pro-Gun State here....and....We have Open Carry which is great too. Boomer....who has NO regrets about leaving de Liberal La-La land of Cannotconnect.....

I'm Georgia born and raised...like Boomer, my husband left the great frozen north and has no plans to return...ever. He said it would take a great need to make him want to return to Connecticut.
midnightventure Posted February 10, 2013 #7 Posted February 10, 2013 I have no use for Connecticut. I had a nephew that played football in Iowa. They moved to Connecticut for a few years and they wouldn't let him play. Said he was to big. He never played again.

He wasn't 6'9 300+ pounds in the 2nd grade was he? I just had to laugh at that one... All jokes a side that was a real shame he couldn't play..

motorcycle_1300 Posted February 14, 2013 #11 Posted February 14, 2013 Having recently retired I left NY and previously VT due to out of control governments overreaching regulation and cold weather. I read through the list but am pretty happy with my choice anyway. Roads could have a few more curves. Beer could come in some flavor other than Lite. I do dislike how articles about ten best don't just put a list upfront, not have us page through a bunch of verbose prose just to get the basic info, but thanks for posting it. Al
playboy Posted February 14, 2013 #12 Posted February 14, 2013 Yeah Arkansas made it to number 3 and we have the people on Welfare to prove it.
Condor Posted February 14, 2013 #13 Posted February 14, 2013 It's Kalifornia.... There are more people living here on welfare than actually work... Gotta be a correlation between that and the cost of living....
CaptainJoe Posted February 15, 2013 Author #14 Posted February 15, 2013 It's Kalifornia.... There are more people living here on welfare than actually work... Gotta be a correlation between that and the cost of living.... We need to bring back the conservation corps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Conservation_Corps
Eddie Posted February 15, 2013 #15 Posted February 15, 2013 It sure isn't Michigan . Especially Oakland County. My taxes took a 400 jump this year.
Daveand Barbie Posted February 15, 2013 #16 Posted February 15, 2013 We bought 25 acres in the Tennessee mountains last year and are planning to make a run for it in a year or two. 45 minutes to the BRP and less than an hour to all the great roads around the Smoky Mtns Park. I was pleased to see that TN is ranked #1 on that list. My retirement will go much farther there.

Of all the places I have ever been, the mountains and the people of east TN are the best. RandyA
Guest tx2sturgis Posted February 16, 2013 #20 Posted February 16, 2013 Ya gotta love this line in the article about Texas: As one of the largest states in the U.S., Texas offers some of the country's biggest cities, but it's also home to dozens of small towns for those looking for a slower pace of life. Dozens? How about THOUSANDS! The number varies depending on your definition, but its about 2500-3000 small towns in Texas. This article about Texas gun laws needs updating: Texas is, of course, known for its gun-friendly laws. The state does not require a permit or registration to own or purchase a gun. A permit is required for carrying a handgun but Texas is a shall-issue state which means that they are required to issue a permit to any qualified applicant. Texas has castle doctrine and stand-your-ground laws which allow a person to use deadly force against anyone forcibly and unlawfully entering or attempting to enter their home. The person using self-defense does not have a duty to retreat. The 'Castle Doctrine' in Texas extends not only to the person's home, but also his or her vehicle, and anyplace else that person is legally allowed to be, and legal to carry a gun, with or WITHOUT a carry permit. Felons, and anyone committing a crime, are of course, exempted. Schools, federal facilities, and bars, are common exceptions.
Brake Pad Posted February 16, 2013 #21 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) From Florida, My only two states I can't carry in is WI. & MI, while traveling up there, BUT Ill. is BLACK and gives no reason for it. anyone from Illinois, help me out with this one? Found it: (Illinois is the only state that does not allow some form of concealed weapons permit.) I guess I'll have to lock it up ( with a key'ed Box) Edited February 16, 2013 by Brake Pad
cb1313 Posted February 16, 2013 #22 Posted February 16, 2013 As I understand it Ill. does not offer carry permits BUT I have heard the there is a bill before the Ill. congress to change that. I live in Arkansas and grew up outside Chicago and visit there but do not take my gun. I may be wrong through ?? Cb
CaptainJoe Posted February 16, 2013 Author #23 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) Ill. is a Right Denied: States that are Right Denied DO NOT allows private citizens to carry handguns and do not issue concealed weapon permits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in non reciprocal you can transport your weapon, provided it is out of reach, in a locked box and seperated from it's ammo.... (see NRAs link below for exclusions) I've carried for years and been to just about every state. Sometimes you have to lock it up though. That doesnt mean I don't take it into my motel at night for protection. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Edited February 16, 2013 by CaptainJoe
CaptainJoe Posted February 16, 2013 Author #24 Posted February 16, 2013 just added this to the first post: Transporting weapons across state lines: http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/articles/2010/guide-to-the-interstate-transportation.aspx
