Flyinfool Posted February 9, 2013 #1 Posted February 9, 2013 What are these Viglinks all over the place? Is it just on my computer or does everyone get this? There are sites that I no longer go to because every other word is a link to sell me something. If it is a money thing, I would rather see the "dues" go up a couple bucks than to have these links all over.
XV1100SE Posted February 9, 2013 #2 Posted February 9, 2013 Try this link - http://www.viglink.com/support/optout I had links showing up on mine as well on VR.org and after clicking on "disable" they disappeared.
Flyinfool Posted February 9, 2013 Author #3 Posted February 9, 2013 Try this link - http://www.viglink.com/support/optout I had links showing up on mine as well on VR.org and after clicking on "disable" they disappeared. Does that mean that VigLink has loaded something onto my computer? Rather that tell that loaded something that I don't want to see the links can I just remove it from my computer?
RandyR Posted February 9, 2013 #5 Posted February 9, 2013 sounds to me like you've downloaded some malware. I'd try to get rid of it rather than just turning off its messages.
etcswjoe Posted February 9, 2013 #6 Posted February 9, 2013 Mine is doing the same thing and this is a fresh load on this computer.
MikeWa Posted February 9, 2013 #7 Posted February 9, 2013 These things just started showing up on my computer. So far it seems limited to this forum. I hate it when every other word is underlined and highlighted. Click and it will take you to an ad for who knows what. I sure hope Freebird is getting paid for this. Mike
ragtop69gs Posted February 9, 2013 #8 Posted February 9, 2013 Maybe I should keep my mouth shut... but, I am not seeing the links like you are
Freebird Posted February 9, 2013 #9 Posted February 9, 2013 OK...it is not Malware and does not hurt you in any way. Just a way to perhaps make a few bucks but I can see that many of you don't like it so I'll get rid of them now. Sorry about that.
IH Truck Guy Posted February 9, 2013 #11 Posted February 9, 2013 OK...it is not Malware and does not hurt you in any way. Just a way to perhaps make a few bucks but I can see that many of you don't like it so I'll get rid of them now. Sorry about that. Don,if it makes a couple of bucks for the site, that's cool and we're ok with that...
MikeWa Posted February 9, 2013 #12 Posted February 9, 2013 Don If it is not on my computer and is making you some money then it is ok with me. Mike
ragtop69gs Posted February 9, 2013 #13 Posted February 9, 2013 Don,if it makes a couple of bucks for the site, that's cool and we're ok with that... They are not intrusive like some of those type of pop ups can be.
craigatcsi Posted February 10, 2013 #14 Posted February 10, 2013 If they help the site then my vote is to PLEASE put them back!! I will even click on some just to bring in more money!
painterman67 Posted February 10, 2013 #15 Posted February 10, 2013 Don Im cool with it. I just clicked the turn it off button. I was just wanting to make sure it wasnt a virus or something. This site has become invaluble ( spelling?) to me and most folks on here are smarter than I am. Leave it be as far as Im concerned David
Ky. Rider Posted February 11, 2013 #16 Posted February 11, 2013 OK...it is not Malware and does not hurt you in any way. Just a way to perhaps make a few bucks but I can see that many of you don't like it so I'll get rid of them now. Sorry about that. Perhaps a "heads up" would have let us know what was happening before panic set in. I'm fine with them and always know I'm not obligated to click on them.
Flyinfool Posted February 11, 2013 Author #17 Posted February 11, 2013 A heads up would have helped, especially if it had the link for the ability to turn it off if you do not like it. What I don't likeabout it was there were so many things highlighted that when someone does put a link in their thread it will get lost in the clutter or worse yet redirected. I was very worried when it first appeared not knowing what it was. I really thought I had a bug and spent a lot of time running deep scans to trying to find it. Now that I know it is not malware and that I don't have to look at it if I don't want to I have no problem with it being there if you would like to see if it can actually generate any revenue. I did not mean to start a fire storm. Sorry about that.
Rick Haywood Posted February 11, 2013 #18 Posted February 11, 2013 Don,if it makes a couple of bucks for the site, that's cool and we're ok with that... I don't have an issue either Don. If you don't click on it nothing happens anyway
Cougar Posted February 11, 2013 #19 Posted February 11, 2013 Don , what are the spiders on the left side of the screen for ?
Freebird Posted February 11, 2013 #20 Posted February 11, 2013 No problem folks. It was my fault about not explaining it in advance. I didn't know they were going to take effect as quickly as they did. WHAT SPIDERS? Don't you be stirring up new problems now.
