Wizard765 Posted February 8, 2013 #1 Posted February 8, 2013 I've been using this TomTom app on my iPhone for years. I have a zumo 660 for the bike but this app is handy in the car. I always have it with me and it is very user friendly. On the plus side it has always done free updates on a regular basis. On the negative side it has not done routes. One of the features I really like about the Zumo is the routes feature. Now Just got a major update for the TomTom app. NOW it can do routes.. So far i have not been able to figure out a way to make a route on the computer using say Mapquest or Google maps and then transfer to the app but maybe there is a way and i just don't know how.. Here is the WOW factor though.. When I pick a destination now I get a bunch of choices on how I'm going to get there.. Fastest, Shortest, Eco, Avoid Hwys, walking route, Bicycle route AND Get this!!! WINDING ROADS...!!!! LOVE IT.. Tested it in my area where I know the roads and it does an AMAZING job of picking a twisty route.. Now I am hoping that maybe Garmin will come up with an update that will do something similar
dogman Posted February 9, 2013 #2 Posted February 9, 2013 Wayne, sounds really good. How much was or is the app?
wrenchrob Posted February 9, 2013 #3 Posted February 9, 2013 I am installing it right now for free. Will try it out later. Thanks for the tip Wayne
Wizard765 Posted February 10, 2013 Author #4 Posted February 10, 2013 What I have is TomTom U.S. and Canada. It cost me $40 on special at the time. I believe it is now around $50 which is a pretty cheap full featured GPS with street name turn by turn directions and lifetime map updates etc.. Plus it's always in my pocket..
dacheedah Posted February 10, 2013 #5 Posted February 10, 2013 Thats sweet, I use gps drive on my iphone plugged into the aux and also put on pandora. U Hear the music and turn by turn instructions
saddlebum Posted February 10, 2013 #6 Posted February 10, 2013 I have always preferred my tom tom GPS to my Garmin one. The only thing is the Garmin is more visible in bright sun light. Route planning and accuracy as well as directions have always been better on my tom tom.
dogman Posted February 10, 2013 #7 Posted February 10, 2013 Just found a free app. called Greatest Road Motorcycle Rider GPS Navigation Road Finder
