This type of problem is almost ALWAYS the browser settings, or the keyboard settings of the individual's particular PC.

The forum software has little to do with anything on your end that you are typing until you hit 'submit'.

If it happens again, go to your browser 'Edit' menu at the top and click 'undo' and see if that helps. Or go into your keyboard settings, or browser settings, and see if you can find shortcuts or macros that might be doing that.

Every now and then, if I get 'wordy', I will save my typing by 'selecting all', then 'copy'....you dont have to paste it anywhere. If the server times you out, and you hit submit, and all seems lost, just open a new reply window, click inside the box, and then hit 'edit' and 'paste'.

Easy peasy guys.

I have tried to recover the post, but it's off into cyberspace... The spell checker idea may have some merit. Also maybe you can answer me this. Why is the Venture site the only place this happens if it's in the browser settings??

PS I use the left triple click, and right click and copy, when I start getting paranoid..... A lot quicker... :thumbsup2:

My guess is, its the way that your browser reacts to the forum...I dont run Windows, or IE, so I wont be much help there.

I use Firefox and occasionally Google Chrome, with Linux as the OS, or Safari browser on the Mac...and never had that happen.

As far as the right click/left click thing:

It gets confusing since some of us are using a right hand mouse and others are using a left hand mouse, so its not universal. Still others are using a trackpad and a double tap is the same as a left click...no wait...maybe thats the right click...anyway...

So I usually just describe the menu settings, unless I'm looking at your setup and then can tell you which fingers should be doing what and when.

Oh wait...thats a different website/webcam...never mind. :smile5:

Been happing to me as well for over two years, brought this same thing up as well.

It is the back space key (sometimes) .. I now type then copy paste when it is getting

long winded LOL . I just tried it and lost my post , came back and now I can not get

it to do it the second time. with the back space key.. NO your not going crazy! glad

to see someone else is having the same problem. We can start a club now ! :happy65:

I also must click the upper right A/A tab so the spell checker will work correctly.

otherwise this site runs fast and thanks Don for keeping it running for us.

I just tested this and found that if I do hit the back button that then I can hit the forward button and I go back to my reply I was working on with the typing intact. Just hitting the backspace does not send me back although I have a suspicion that if I clicked outside the typing field accidently and then hit the backspace key it would. Ijust tested that theory and it did. When I hit the forward button I came right back to my post with everything still there.

I am thinking if I use the a/A box and type with it changed it works better

with out it changing the screens. I can not seem to get it to back up

with it turned on.

While riding around I have seen piles of words just sittin on the side of the road, always wondered who left those words there, next time I will check for back spaces :dancefool:

I played with this for a while and can not seem to make it happen.

But after a lot of back spacing, I can always hit control - Z to bring it back. Have you tried that one yet?

The next time it happens I'll have to give that one a try... Hopefully it'll work. Learn something new everyday... :) :backinmyday:

The backspace key is, by default ,(go back one page). Hitting it multiple times is probably sending you out of edit mode and into "back a page" mode. You can verify this by going to a web page say "CNN" then hit the backspace. You will go back one page. :whistling:
