buddy Posted February 7, 2013 #1 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) Well when it rains it pours..... I was checking my Gold Wing out and found I cracked the motor dont ask me how I did it but I did guess I hit something. talked it over with Peg since its an 90 model we decided to replace it instead of fixing it. Was looking for another Wing but they want an arm & leg with high miles so instead I found an 07 Blue Venture I can get for around $6,800.00 with 32,000 miles like mint condition so I will be heading out tomorrow morning to ride it home. I will have to work with it as for being top heavy and me going on a diet may help as well since I went in for my check up I gained 22lbs since last vist. Wish me luck tomorrow LOL Buddy Edited February 8, 2013 by buddy
playboy Posted February 7, 2013 #2 Posted February 7, 2013 Glad you came back to your senses. Sorry to hear about your bike though. You must really like blue.
Miles Posted February 7, 2013 #3 Posted February 7, 2013 I was checking my Gold Wing out and found I cracked the motor dont ask me how I did it but I did guess I hit something. Buddy Buddy, what happened to your '90 Goldwing is exactly why I always try to use a Tulsa Bellypan on my bikes. Allan, at Tulsa Enterprises, makes a Bellypan for the 1500 Wings,a nd for the 1800 Wings. I have had these Bellypans on both of my 1500's, and on all 3 of my 1800's. They make a world of difference, for several reasons, but the most important reason right now is that it protects the very bottom cases of your engine. I know this, as...the very day that I was starting my world record ride for the most miles in 30 days, I bought one of these from the Honda dealer in Everett, WA., where I was starting my ride from, and I installed it in the parking lot. It took me all of 10 minutes to do the full install. At the end of my 30 days ride, after 30,681 miles, certified by the IBA, I found that something in North America had punched a small hole into the bellypan, and there were several other dents in the bellypan. I believe that if I had not had that bellypan on my bike, the object that did punch a hole through the aluminum bellypan would have punched a hole in my engine case, and stopped my ride. NOW...to the point for VR users...I have asked Allan at Tulsa Enterprises if he would design a bellypan to fit the Second Gen RSV bikes. He didn't seem to think there was much demand for one...since I was the first person to ever ask for one, and the sales numbers of RSV's are a small % of the Wings that are sold. I am telling you ALL, right here and now...that if we can get Allan to design and make their bellypans for our bikes, it will be a great thing. I even tried to design and make one myself. Bought the aluminum sheet from Home Depot, made a bellypan, installed it on the bike, but I did not like my own work. It takes the right equipment to form and bend this stuff. I even thought of ordering 100 bellypans from Tulsa Enterprises: http://www.allamericanprod.com/tulsabp.html and then selling them on our classified section to forum members. If we can get Allan to make these for us, as a group, it will bring the cost down, and you will find that these really do work. Besides protecting the lower cases from debris, the biggest advantage is that they help control the sway/lean of the bike in really heavy crosswinds. REALLY ! They keep the bottom of the bike clean, it is easy to remove the front section of the bellypan to change the oil or oil filter. THINK about it.

BTW, how long ago did you set that record? That's phenomenal and borderline psychotic at the same time.
dacheedah Posted February 8, 2013 #5 Posted February 8, 2013 You will get used to it and look at some of the mods that make handling easier, a few minor changes will make a huge difference in feel. . . Congrats
bongobobny Posted February 8, 2013 #6 Posted February 8, 2013 The Black and Blue one is one of my favorite color combunations...

buddy Posted February 9, 2013 Author #13 Posted February 9, 2013 Well I dint buy the Venture drove two hrs to the dealer and the Venture was beautiful so I jump on to test ride it and was only able to go around the block. The clutch was shot!! yeah shot 07 Venture with a toasted clutch every time I gave it hard throttle the engine would rev up but not else clutch was slipping big time!! rode it back in and told the sales guy what happened and he was not happy and was very sorry for the mishap as I getting off the Venture there was a mechanic there riding it off to check it out next thing you know hes riding it back in straight to the garage the salesman asked for me to look around and see what we could work out Well it took about two hours of bickering on the price but finally have my knew ride and yes its "blue" what is it with me & blue bikes? there were other colors but this one was at a lower price needless to say it work in my favor and have a new ride and the first thing I'm buying is the belly pan 2005 Gold Wing
