I have a 2006 RSV 50k miles. I am in the process of flushing my cooling system. Following directions from service manual and step by step directions from this forum. As always the directions are fantastic! I removed the cylinder side covers and noticed under the forward cylinder cover, a small radiator fluid leak coming cylinder drain plug. This was a bit of a surprise to me as I have not had any issues all last riding season. I have only ridden twice in the months of December, and January (Ohio weather!), and have been using down to do some upgrades and maintenance. Should I replace the plug, is this a larger problem?? Any thoughts and or comments would be greatly appreciated!

No, there should not be any problem there. This is a common issue due to the rubbers getting dry / shrinking. You can either change the rubber or you can put a dime/small coin between the rubber and the cylinder cover to stop the leaking. Personally I am not much of a shortcut guy when it comes to my motorcycle so I would chance the rubbers if it was my bike.

What they said! Nothing more serious than a wor4n plug, but check the surface where the plug seals for aqny crud/corrosion and clean appropriately.

 

The most obvious reason your photo download failed is you probably did not resize the photo. I usually uswe 600x800 and compress it down so it's file size is in the 25K range. The site will resize to a certain degree as there are limits, but if you try to do a virgin photo it's most likely around 5 Meg or bigger depending on your camera and setting and it'sw too big for the site to resize and will reject it...

Don't get excited Jonas, by virgin I mean unedited unresized, etc as in the original!!! Somehow when I typed that I KNEW somebodhy would say something, but I was expecting one of the Canadians to say something!!

 

Kkent66 I also wanted to mention that you need to make sure whatever flush you use make sure it is OK for Aluminum engines!!!

Thanks guys - you were correct about the picture size and I am following instructions on how to flush from forum. I believe it says to use distilled water.

I am not where my bike is, but I am pretty sure that top most hole is just a drain for the recessed area that the spark plug sits in and is there so the spark plug does not drown if you get caught in the rain or when you wash the bike.

it is the bottom one, use a spark plug with the end cap removed to screw in to the plug to get it out [same thread] and gives you something to hang on to makes it easy . :backinmyday:

My son has a set of sockets that look like that. His came from Lowes I think. Kobalt tools. Actually they are pretty handy as they are hollow in center of socket so you dont need deep socket as the bolt will go thru center of socket.
