Hello All .

I was just wanting to ask some question's about my 04' RSMV . This is my first Venture and just want a good run down on What's the best tire's and oil's to run in her . I also want to buy some better speaker's for it how does anyone feel about Bazooka stereo speaker's . So if anyone out there could give me some info on all this I'm welcomed to any and all suggestion's and advice .

Welcome aboard!

For tires, user rubber ones.

For oil, use engine oil (not cooking oil!)

:rotfl: :stickpoke:

Sorry, couldn't help myself

Which Tires and Oil are probably the two most discussed items on any M/C forum.

I used Shell Rotella (white jug) oil and Bridgestone E3 tires on my RSMV.

No matter what anyone else here says, these are the best! :witch_brew: :whistling:

Seriously, E3's and Avon Venoms seem to be the tires of preference. As for the oil, that varies greatly.

Can't say which is best and you'll get lots of opinions but I run Yamaha oil in mine and have gotten good miles out of Dunlap E3's. Don't know about speakers cause my stocks are fine with me.

Dunlop makes the E-3 which generaly gets good reviews. I am using the new 'Bridgestone Exedra MAX' multi compound which I am very happy with. The original tires were either 'Dunlop 404s' or 'Bridgestone Exedra' both of which get some complaints but are available in whitewall. Then of course there are all the other tire makers, each with good and bad points. These bikes are big and heavy. Good tires are critical.

the debate on oil and Tires can take you down 1000 different avenues. I recently asked a few of these similar questions. Do some research on oils and the tires etc. A lot of people like and prefer Avon tires. I have Avon venom X on my '03, which came with the bike. I am impressed with the handling on grass. However, I do NOT like the way it handles on turns. the bike "vibrates". Make me feel uneasy. As for the oil, I have been using the Yamaha stock oil and will be using the purolater filter. As a new venture owner and new to the forum, I have been told by my pals here ( take a bow guys) that the stock oil is fine as long as the oil is changed regularly.

Finally speakers...There are some great reads here about speakers. Polk I believe is one of those that the more knowledgeable guys have mentioned. Check the threads here, because I was reading that about a month ago, so it should still be here on the site.

these guys are great at helping. I know bc I am a royal pain in the arse, and they still answer me.

Safe riding !!

I run mobil 20-50 but I've been doing a hell of a lot of research again and for the money Valvoline (motorcycle 4 stroke) synthetic 20-50 is a deal and DON"T change it every 3000 miles it does not and I repeat it does not start breaking down until about 5000 miles PERIOD.

Amsoil is the Best for this reason ALL motorcycle companies will void your waranty if you use Mobil 1 Valvoline, quaker , etc... but Honda, Harley, Yamaha will still honor warrany if you use AMSOIL

AMSOIL is no doubt the very best but at $12 a quart I can do 2 oil changes with the others

and I don't keep a bike for more than a year or so many times less. Tires are personal preference and DEPENDS HOW YOU RIDE and WHERE YOU RIDE Hot are cold area humid area dry area with dusty roads do you ride a lot in early morning when humidity makes roads damp or late at night same thing. Avons in the rain stick like glue Dunlops work great on dry pavement but I don't like them in the rain Shinko makes a hard tire and rides hard but handles great so...................???????????????????:080402gudl_prv:

Welcome to the site, these guys on here have more bike knowledge than should be allowed and were glad they do. heres the skinny: me i like avon venoms and amsoil 10-40 changed every 5,000 miles but with filter and 1/2 a quart at 2,500 miles. lube and respect and this bike will last a long long time.

I run Mobil 1 for motorcycles and I can assure you that Yamaha will absolutely NOT void your warranty for using it. That is a fact from talking to Yamaha and to Mobil. I don't expect that Honda or Harley would either. As long as an oil meets the specifications, they can not, by law, void your warranty for using it.

I read a lot of Yammer Dan posts. Why does he (or why do you if YD is reading this) dislike 2nd gens so much? :confused24:

I use stock oil as my bile is still under warranty and that removes any argument should an issue arise and remember to change the crush washer and I use a torque wrench. Yamaha has a kit with oil, crush washer and filter as a best deal.
