Guest Dave Rogge Posted February 3, 2013 #1 Posted February 3, 2013 My 84 VR has no functioning turn signals or emergency flashers. I have the fairing apart for repairs. I found a ND relay FX257N (cigarette pack size) which says turn signal and hazard warning on the housing. My manual says that there are separate flasher and hazard relays. I can't find any separate components. I read some other threads that mentioned a 41R relay. Is that the same as the one I mentioned above? Thanks for any help.
MiCarl Posted February 3, 2013 #2 Posted February 3, 2013 The Hazard circuit has a different fuse than the signals. I suspect that means a different flasher, although it might be in the same package. The hazard switch is where the two functions come together. If it is unplugged nothing works. I suppose the same might be true if it's broken.
dingy Posted February 3, 2013 #5 Posted February 3, 2013 You have two threads on this. I thought I posted to one. The 41R relay has the starting relay in it, as well as the flasher/hazards & canceling circuits. Gary
Black wing Posted February 3, 2013 #6 Posted February 3, 2013 actually its two seprate treads just two of us looking for the same parts at the same time (and the 41R is the one out of my bike)
Guest Robair 1946 Posted March 7, 2013 #7 Posted March 7, 2013 Hello, Your problem could be the hazard switch itself, or more likely a corroded plug where it plugs into the main wiring harness. All the tail brake and signal light circuits go through that switch. Another source of your problem could be the computerized monitor in the dash. It is not uncommom for that unit to foul up and the result can be no high beam haedlight, no lo beam, no tail light, no signals etc.
OrlinEngh Posted March 7, 2013 #8 Posted March 7, 2013 If you unpluged the Hazard switch your turn signals wont work. Orlin
